Today we received a thank you letter from Intermountain.
We get a personalized letter from them every month.
The letter provides a great source of encouragement.
It motivates us to continue to give gladly because
we know it is received and used meaningfully.
Our gift to Intermountain is a small donation.
I have it taken out automatically from my monthly
retirement income. I don’t even miss it… but I know
it is pooled with other small gifts and together, they matter.
Intermountain helps hundreds of children increase their mental health.
The thank you letter we receive each month
lets us know our gift was received, and it tells us,
“Your support, combined with the tireless efforts of
our direct care staff, provides transformative outcomes
in the lives of the children we serve.” Thanks! We believe it!
The academic and counseling programs at Intermountain,
the recreational opportunities and clinical integrity are superb.
We are encouraged to continue to support their efforts and to
spread the word so others are encouraged to donate to them also.
They are an excellent Montana-based 501(c) organization
Check out their school, cottages, counseling,
and community outreach programs
at intermountain.org
How do you choose to share encouragement?
Donations are one way – but there are so many others:
cards, letters, phone calls, texts,
e-mails, home visits, hugs,
volunteering time,
you name it …
We all need encouragement, you know.
Thanks for visiting JanBeek
See ya tomorrow (God willing)
Elfchen or “Elevenies”
are poems with eleven words
in a pattern of
1+2+3+4+1
Embrace
Spontaneous Leisure
as you relax
and enjoy life today:
Sunday
Sunday
mornings always
are hurried “UP
‘N AT T’EM” days.
Rush!
Shower.
Get up.
And get dressed.
Then gobble your breakfast.
Church!
(Click the arrow below)
Listen
“Rush Hour”
for a minute …
Then click it off.
Frenzy!
Happy?
Not likely.
That “Happy Hardcore”
Destroys any residual sanity.
Yuck!
(Go back and click outta that sound!)
Repetitive,
nerve wracking…
Who needs it?
Put your feet up.
Relax!
Wallow
in silliness
for a while;
Find yourself some laughter.
Chuckle!
Find
some friends
to join you.
Good for your soul.
Laze!
A few friends took me up on my suggestion yesterday. My silly blog was titled, “Embrace a Camel” and I really went off the deep end. One little friend got into a box and joined the insanity club!
It’s called “Spontaneous Leisure”
and I recommend it!
Today we slept in.
We dressed in a casual, leisurely fashion.
We ate brunch at 10: am
(our church didn’t ZOOM the service today
or we would’ve tuned in to it)
and then we went up to our sanctuary
and had our own worship service up there.
Embrace
Spontaneous Leisure.
Just treat yourself
Take an unintentional break –
Relax
Jesus
Accepts worship
Wherever it occurs.
God condones taking breaks.
Recline!
Question: “What does the Bible say about rest and relaxation?”.
Answer: “Rest” is defined as “peace, ease or refreshment.”
“Relax” means “to become loose or less firm,
to have a milder manner,
to be less stiff.”
The Bible speaks quite highly of rest.
Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me,
all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Doctor
ordered relaxation:
Just sit back –
Put your feet up –
Chill!
Embrace Spontaneous Leisure
Do it today!
See ya tomorrow (God willing)

Embrace this moment;
It is all we surely have.
Make the most of it.
Simone Biles did it:
She conquered her challenges.
Bounced back on the beam!
In this one moment,
I can feel eternity.
Congratulations!
Embrace this moment.
You faced your fears; conquered them…
We all learned from you.
Don’t hang your head down
And ignore your mental health.
Stand up. Be honest!
We all have valleys –
Life’s not all on mountain tops.
Own your emotions!
Don’t cry for the gold.
Winners aren’t always first place.
Winners just show up!
Be in the moment.
Let your spirit soar and smile.
Guard your mental health.
Thank you, Simone Biles,
For being so courageous.
You are our hero!
Embrace This Moment!
I’ve lived to try my very best.
I’ve learned to accept defeat.
But, when all of my dreams
Are a heartbeat away,
I just take a deep breath
And keep on trying.
I AM more than I thought I could be…
God knew I could be all this and more…
After all, He made me!
Give me one moment in time…
And I will be all He made me to be.
I will be free.
See ya tomorrow (God willing) –
Embrace this moment!
Love ya,
JanBeek
They say a picture’s worth a thousand words,
But a smile is even greater.
It’s personal, it’s contagious,
It can melt the heart of a hater.
This is my daughter’s cheery face.
It glows and grows across the miles.
She lives in Switzerland,
But the airwaves carry her smiles.
If you see someone without a smile,
You have smiles to spare you know,
So give ’em one of yours.
It’ll set their heart aglow.
There!
I saw you smile 😉
Back atcha…
Ya sent me one of yours, so
Here’s one of mine!
If you want to see more smiles,
Embrace the ability you have to be
The catalyst for spreading love
I Smile at You – You smile at me!
Change happens one at a time –
One smile, one thought, one act.
Embrace change. It is your friend.
Without change, we’d die. That’s a fact!
See ya later!
Have a fabulous Sunday!
Hugs,
JanBeek
Count your blessings, my friend.
You are blessed indeed –
God is with you every step,
Taking care of your every need.
ReJOYce in the reason for the season
Remember it is about God’s Son.
It’s not about Xmas at all
Don’t leave out Christ – He’s the One!
reJOYce!!
There are plenty of reasons
To be sad this time of year –
Especially when looking down.
But look up… See here!
Life is so full of things to say
Thank You to God for…
Lift your eyes to the sky
And look for so many more.
The ability to look at life
Through eyes of gratitude
And find JOY even in times of trouble,
That’s a healthy attitude!
Reaching out to friends
Who will hear and join you in prayer –
And believing in its power…
You will find real JOY there!
Philippians 4:4-6
“Rejoice in the Lord always…
Let your gentleness be evident to all…
Do not be anxious about anything,
but in every situation,
by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.”
Thank you for your love, prayers and support yesterday
when I was waiting for the results of Bob’s angiogram procedure.
You’re a treasure.
I reJOYce in your presence in my life.
Have a blessed weekend.
See ya tomorrow.
Love & Hugs,
JanBeek
Enjoy this beautiful, inspiring song and…
… Keep Lookin’ Up!!
I love this song sung by Dolly Parton.
Do take time to click on the arrow
And listen to her beautiful rendition
Of this “One Day at a Time” – and sing along!
Yesterday’s Gone, Sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be nigh
Lord help me today
Show me the way
One day at a time.
It doesn’t add a single second to our lives
To worry about what might have been mine
Or to fret about what tomorrow may bring
Teach me to look up and take one day at a time
Let Your Light shine on me, Lord
Show me how to be what You made me to be
Guide my feet and my thoughts in Your Light
Show me how to live in the NOW and be free
Free from the worry that doubting brings
Free to dance and to plan and to find joy
In the blessings You send every day
Free to ignore and toss aside the things that annoy
Life’s full of trials, confusion and lies
It’s hard to discern what is Truth and is right
Guide me today to do as You say
And to pray for life’s wisdom. May I sleep well tonight!
Sleep well tonight, my friends.
Take one day at a time!
See ya tomorrow.
Love,
JanBeek
Problems
Creep in
Usually they’re unbidden
Happened all week long
Blame
Gifted
With Love
From my Lord
I did move forward
Strength
Possibilities
Are fueled
By firm beliefs
Making hard things easier
Faith
One step at a time
Life is easier with faith
Just follow the Light!
This last one’s a Haiku, but the preceding series of three poems (written in the German-inspired style of Elfchen or Elevenie) shares a total of eleven words in each poem, with a sequence by line of one, two, three, four, and one words.
I hope you had a good week.
Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks for visiting JanBeek.
See ya tomorrow.
Are you feeling overwhelmed?
Got too much on your plate?
Take a step back and regroup –
Don’t bite the “Gotta” bait!!
You don’t “Gotta” do nothing
But eat and breathe and live.
Set aside the burdens and
Sort life with a sieve.
Sift out what is draining,
And give yourself compassion.
Let go what’s upsetting
And let yourself start laughin’.
Yup, go find yerself a sandbox
And sit in it with friends.
Share the stuff that troublin’
And watch how the sadness ends.
And when the sandbox play
Comes to an end, get up
And bid the spiders, bees, and ants
Good-bye while you go and fill your cup.
Have a cup of kindness
With some honey to sweeten it.
Chase those blues right out the door.
Tell your stress you’ve beaten it!
When you look at each day smiling,
There is really no denying it,
You can beat the blues and stressfulness.
Go out fearlessly … Bee a Leo: Lion it!!
Are you feeling overwhelmed?
Got too much on your plate?
Set some aside – and get some rest –
There’s always tomorrow; that’s not too late!
Have a good night!
See ya tomorrow.
Love,
JanBeek
The first time I saw that meme I realized I needed to do all three things. How about you?
Do you need to get away to an ocean-side view to relax? Do you need to get out into the woods to truly enjoy life?
Can you find a quiet space right where you are? Can you share it with a pet or a partner and release your shoulders and your stress and enjoy life in the moment?
If where you are is not conducive to relaxation, just gather your pet (or a partner) and head for a quiet spot of your choosing!
So, my friends,
whatever it takes,
I invite you to
take time right now
to relax and enjoy life.
Get off the merry-go-round of life.
Step down from the carousel of cares
And unclench your jaw.
Drop the tongue from the roof of your mouth
And take a few very deep breaths.
And then,
after a nice refreshing break,
get back to work!
Or not!!
See ya tomorrow.
Have a relaxing Friday night!
What’re you doing this weekend to
“Relax and Enjoy Life”??
Begin with some soothing music…
Close your eyes and enjoy!
