Have You Been Surprised Lately?
I posted this morning my tribute to Bob,
My husband of 56 1/2 years,
Who just celebrated his 80th.
You saw him with his giant card, right?
What I didn’t show you was the
Surprise he experienced in the morning
When he was outside with our son, grandson & Kyle
washing our mud-infested Montana car…
Watch!!
That’s DeAna, our daughter, who surprised him
(obviously)
By arriving with her BFF, Elaina, to say,
“Happy Birthday, Daddy!”
DeAna lives in Switzerland.
Elaina lives in Maryland.
We live in Montana.
We’re visiting our son & family in California.
The joy was – as is – overwhelming!
Can you feel it?
Have you been surprised lately?
Tell me about it!
Living to be eighty
Takes health and love galore.
But living to be ninety
Takes a heck of a lot more.

So what’s the magic secret?
What’s longevity based upon?
Ask a host of a octogenarians
They’ll describe a marathon.

Life’s a race to finish –
And your run has highs and lows,
But if you’re extra blessed, then
You’ll have more friends than foes.
So keep on track and step up
To the line every single day.
And if you’re blessed as this guy is,
You’ll be 80 pushing 90 someday!
Happy 80th Birthday, Bob.
It’s been a great race so far.
Ninety — here we come!
Keep smilin’ – wherever you are!!
Do you have a Mother-in-Love?
That’s the term my daughter uses to describe
her mother-in-law.
I like that reference, don’t you?
Here I am with my son’s Mother-in-Love
and my granddaughter, Hope.
Time with family
while we celebrate Christ’s birth
is what this season is all about!
My great-grandson is experiencing his first Christmas
with his maternal grandparents.
Ah, the wonder of it all!!
We had fun visiting the area today where
gold was discovered in California.
Who did you spend this time after Christmas Day with?
Did you travel somewhere?
I have just begun to read The Artist’s Rule by Christine Valters Paintner. It was a gift from a friend who graced me with a note inside the book that professed, “I feel I have a SOUL MATE in you.” What a compliment that is! This friend is so very special to me! He is a marvelous, talented, and generous artist as well as being a delightful, charismatic and whimsy-filled friend.

A quote from the book’s Foreword by Macrina Wiederkehr says, “Your inner artist invites you to participate in the great work of healing the world by lifting out of your senses creative images, words, and actions that inspire others to live lives of wonder and surprise.”
Isn’t that a worthy goal for us all? Consider this 12 week journey with me as we enter 2019.
“Tap the eternal in your soul,” Macrina continues.
I am ready to do that. Are you?
We need an army of “soulmates” ready to “heal the world!”
Have at it!!
Happy Day After Chtistmas!
What’re you doing?
We’re traveling to CA.
Had a wonderful Christmas.
May the spirit of the season live with you all year long.
God bless you!

Let Him Out!
There are days
And then there are
Advent Days.
Days of Waiting –
Days of Unknowing –
Days of Sorrow.
Your life feels
Oppressive.
Hope eludes you.

This Christmas Eve
Let’s recall
Mary’s waiting.
Let’s remember
Mary’s sweet song –
Her ready acceptance.

Thousands of years
Later, we need
Her true faith.
Wouldn’t it be
Super great if
All news was good?
Wouldn’t we love
All suffering
To instantly cease?
What joy if
All war and hunger
Were eliminated now!
We’d like God
To bring us
The Promised Peace.

But, His Way
Is not our way.
His definitions differ.
We look at basics
With greedy eyes.
We look for Plenty.
God defines PLENTY
In heart-felt ways.
He needs “Let Out!”
So, open your heart.
Invite God out
Through your heart.
See your PLENTY
Through God’s eyes.
Focus on others.
Like Mary, sing of
God’s grace, and
Birth His Light.

God bless you!
Merry Christmas Eve.
Follow that star!!

Do you ever have a tendency to measure yourself against others?
I do… and I often come up short! After all, I’m only five foot nothing. Really!!
If I measure me against me,
I could be 6’3″
If I measure me against YOU,
I’m maybe not even 2’2″
So, who do I use?
Whose feet do I choose?
Who carries my blues?
Who walks in my shoes?
“No one,” you say?
“God took His soft clay
And molded a shape –
Unique! Full of play.”

God gifted your soul
Full of treasures untold –
Then He threw out the mold.
You’re more precious than gold.
Who do I measure myself against then?
“No one,” God smiles.
“You’re a one-of-a-kind gem!”
My grandson said, “So what do we do with this knowledge?”
I answered, “Remember, you are unique.
Don’t let your self-esteem be measured by the
size of someone else’s anything!”
(Go back to the clay figure and you can see
what kind of “anything” that caused that deduction!)

Oh bludder!!!
Bite your tongue, my friend …
Know you were created PERFECTLY –
and Have a Merry Christmas!

This little 3″ x 5″ book titled,
Yet Another Day
was copyrighted in 1905.
My mother-in-law bought it at a flea market for $1.00
in about 1959. I inherited it from her.
This note is in the inside front cover:
The title page tells you the book, written by Rev. J.H. Jowett, M.A.,
is intended to be used as a prayer for every day of the year.
The copyright page gives valuable tips,
as valid today as they were 113 years ago!
Today is December 22nd.
The prayer for today is one I want to share with you.
(I pray I am not breaking copyright laws by sharing this!)
Pray with me, will you?
(And enjoy the beautiful, lyrical language of 113 years ago.)
“Lord of all life, wilt Thou quicken me in the ministry of Thy life-giving Spirit? May no part of my being remain in deadly insensitivity. May I be alive unto God! May all my powers aspire after Thee, as flowers after the sun.” AMEN!
