You Lift Me Up

When troubles come…
Where do you go to be lifted up?
I go into the mountains.
There God fills my cup.

Elaine Hundley Photography

I was not able to go with Bob these last couple of weeks when he took our ATV up into the Tobacco Root Mountains and the Gravelly Range.

If you’ve been following my blog, you know I had surgery to repair a hernia a couple of weeks ago. The doctor said those bumpy rides on our four-wheeler, “Lucille” (she’s red-headed and she is a BALL), were off-limits.

So, Bob took our friend, Julie, last week… and this week he took our friend, Elaine. Both of them loved it. I’m so glad he shares the fun with friends who appreciate the beauty of Montana’s mountains as much as we do!

Elaine Hundley and Bob Beekman

Elaine is the wife of our minister and friend, Steve Hundley. I share my poetic sermon notes each Sunday with you. It’s Steve who preaches those captivating messages! Elaine took the pictures I am sharing with you today. She has some real beauts here!!

I told her she needs to enlarge and frame this one!!

You can see the tip of Lucille’s tire here … obviously Bob stopped many times along the trail so Elaine could get out and snap a shot of the view. As you can see, they traveled up above the tree line into the snow. It’s mid-July and Montana’s mountain tops still have snow. Bundle up! Yup, it was cold up there while I was enjoying a 75 degree day down in the Madison Valley.

Elaine must have had more than an iPhone 6 for this shot. You think?
I thought that was “Lucille” but look again… it doesn’t have a red head!
The camera doesn’t do justice to the fields of wild flowers.
But, you get the idea.

No camera lens is as miraculous as the lens God gives each of us with our eyes… especially if we have 20/20 vision. But, a skilled photographer can come close with a good camera. I love the composition of this one with the rocks on rock in the foreground, don’t you?

In case you were wondering about their altitude…

Thank you, Elaine, for sharing with us your day with Bob and God! We are so blessed to be friends with one another and with nature and with our Creator! I love you! <3

And thank you, my WordPress friends, for going with us into the mountains where we can all feel closer to God. There, He fills my cup! Did He fill yours, too?

Be at peace.
God bless you!

I added the words below here to my blog from a couple days ago where I had a video posted of Susan Boyle singing this song… but some folks weren’t able to access the video.

I leave you today with this wonderful Peace Prayer by St. Francis of Assisi. Make Me a Channel of Your Peace…

Thank you, Lord, for your great creation. I find such peace in Your mountains!

I hope you did, too, my friends.
See ya tomorrow.

Having it All

What is it you have?
What is it you want to have?
Ask and you’ll receive.

Is it that simple?
Is that really all it takes?
Why isn’t it mine?

Why isn’t WHAT mine?
A yacht – a million dollars –
A villa in Italy?

Do those things matter?
If I have love and my health,
I DO have it all!!

Ponder that!
See ya tomorrow.

Let God Music Lift You

As I write this blog
Susan Boyle lifts me up
Non-stop I listen

I ask Alexa
“Repeat” and she repeats this
Until I say “Stop.”

Listen to the words
Let them sink into your soul
You can’t help but smile

Be raised by music
Let the Love of Christ lift you
You must not stay down

Let God live in you
Let the Holy Spirit speak
Be strong and be well

Blue

Photo by Sohel Patel on Pexels.com

Usually a person who sees the glass full,
not just half-full, and seldom empty,
this COVID-19 is getting to me.
A friend wrote a poem called a QUADRILL.
I decided to use its format to vent.

Quadrille
44 words –

“Blue”

All the world seems blue
Sadly holding its breath
Some behind masks
Some behind fear
Some behind doors
All afraid to breathe
Lest virus droplets lurk
Hanging in the air
Waiting to land
And infect
Particularly blue
Are the young
Socialization matters
Sooo
Much

It’s a lonely path we’re on.

Reach out across the blue.
Connect.
We need one another.

See ya tomorrow.

Don’t Miss This!!

Yesterday morning I posted a blog about music, color & life’s fascinations.
(If you haven’t seen it,
please click on that title over on the right margin
– and enjoy!)

In it, I posted a video of an artist who sees color in music.
I was fascinated by her artistry –
and posted other things that fascinate me.
My intent always is to keep myself
thinking positively –
and to help my blogging friends do likewise.

A friend of mine here in Ennis
(who did not see my blog)
was obviously thinking along the same wave lengths.
He sent me a link to this video…

Treat yourself!
You will be so inspired!!!

The focus is not on what you don’t have
It is on what you have –
and what you do with it!

Have a great rest of your day…
And maximize your blessings!

The Seed and the Sower

It’s Sunday. It’s a day we set aside to worship God and listen to His Word. As I listened to Rev. Steve Hundley deliver his sermon today, I did my usual. I recorded on my bulletin what my ears took in poetically.

Photo by Hakan Tahmaz on Pexels.com

Here are my notes:

People flocked to Jesus.
He began to preach from a boat.
He had to distance from the crowd
So he drifted out a bit to float.

Distanced from the multitudes,
Jesus told the Parable of the Seed.
The Seed is the Word of God,
Spoken to the people in need.

Jesus warned that the Word
Often falls on deaf ear.
He explained that not all seeds
Grow in all who hear.

But those who allow the seed to grow,
Spend time to allow the seed to sink in,
Let it bury itself in their hearts,
Can bear fruit and juice they drink in.

The seed of the Word is like
A Smoothie blended into thought and deed.
Let the Word transform you
And grow to the Faith we all need.

But we may carry a ball & chain of doubt
That keeps us from letting go
Of the seeds that need to be planted
In Good Soil so they can grow,

Don’t hoard the Seeds of plenty
That God has blessed in you.
Sow them, grow them, harvest
And blend them to a Smoothie. Do!

Every seed carries in its bosom the future.
Trust God to make the seeds grow.
Be the sower who trusts the Maker
To find Good Soil wherever you go.

Amen

The Parable of the Sower

Matthew 13:1 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
Matthew 13:18“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

2,200% increase in COVID-19

We thought we were bullet-proof;
We thought we were too far out of it.
Guess again, my near-sighted friends –
This virus doesn’t know when to quit!

From lowest number of cases
In all of the USA,
We made miserable strides.
We had 26 new cases in one day!

The percentage sounds so much worse
Than telling you the number 26,
But numbers can be deceiving –
Just ask those who are newly sick!

Montana is a state with barely a million
Total in its entire population,
But when Yellowstone opened up,
People came from the world, not just the nation.

We visited with friends in their yard yesterday,
But we were able to socially distance easily.
Look at the space between house and table
And the blue sky – with God helping quite breezily!

We sat and watched the sunset
Reflect on the gorgeous Madison Range,
And thanked God for our open spaces;
With the absence of hugs – feeling strange!

But when today’s news reported the increase
In the number of cases in our state,
We thanked God anew for our health –
And the blessing to continue to feel great.

I pray you are being wise and safe too, my friends.
Enjoy your social situations,
But remember to wear a mask if you can’t distance
And keep happy and healthy relations!

I’m off to the park to walk again with TazE.
It’s another beautiful, blue-sky day.
“Bee” happy and stay healthy, will you please?
I hope our numbers go down – and stay that way!

Don’tcha love that fence post?
See ya tomorrow.

Travel With Me

Please travel with me
To some far away places
Escape for a day

Dream of the places
You can virtually go
And venture out there

Play with animals
Get up close and personal
Through someone’s lenses

But beware the heights
The danger that lurks above
The eye of the storm!

I prefer my feet
To securely stand on ground
Imagination!

Stones of the Madagascar Ocean

You collect the rocks
You dive to the sea’s bottom
I’ll enjoy your find!

Thanks for visiting
And venturing out with me
Have a lovely day!

TazE thanks you, too.

Come again tomorrow.
Let’s see where we feel like going then.

Spend it All or Give it Away!

“Being of sound mind, I spent it all!”

Photo by mali maeder on Pexels.com

Those were the words read from the will
when my friend, Marion,
met with her siblings after their mother died.

Today’s devotional in
“Mornings with Jesus 2020”
told of a similar story.
The writer quoted her father as saying,
“Before I leave here, I intend to spend every dollar I ever made.”

She thought he was kidding.
After all, he was a God-fearing man …
“who could quote scripture from Genesis to Revelation.”
(Alice Thompson, Thursday July 9th).

But her earthly father had given her no inheritance!

After being angry for awhile,
Alice turned to her Bible,
and she turned to the Lord.
Alice wrote that she spoke to her head
about Lamentations 3:24.
It says,
“The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.”

Photo by Gustavo Fring on Pexels.com

Even though Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children,” Alice realized her father – who left “nothing for me,” had indeed left the most precious gifts of all: His loving relationship with her and his faith in God.

He lived his life loving her and her mother, giving to the Lord and to those in need, and using his hard-earned dollars to enjoy a good life. A nice house, a new car every few years, memorable vacations, generosity with his children, and gifts to charity… these were the signatures he left. He left her the gifts money can’t buy: love, faith, a good work-ethic, respect, and joy.

If our parents live their lives in love and faith, generosity and joy.
If our parents pass those gifts on to us,
We have the received the most important gifts of all.
They don’t owe us a rich monetary inheritance.

If our parents demonstrate a good work-ethic,
and teach us to do likewise,
If our parents help us learn to read and compute,
pray and serve, and get a good education,
then they have equipped us to do as they might:

Being of sound mind,
I spent it all
or gave it away.

Go and do likewise!
Have a great Thursday.

I’m headed to a Happy 70th Birthday party!
See ya tomorrow.
Live in peace with EVERYBODY, my friends!
Hugs, JanBeek
