Fondue and chalets Speak of Switzerland to me It’s so beautiful!
My grandson, Mikey, Is teasing me with this cheese. He knows I love it!
And my daughter, De, Is teasing me with Swiss scenes. USA’s shut out!
Because of COVID, We can’t even think of going. I long to visit.
Come travel with me Via Internet magic. No place prettier!
That church is close by De and Andre’s restaurant. Opening date soon.
I love Swiss chalets!
This is not a chalet. Notice, no windows. It’s for grain storage and tools.
Notice the big flat rocks under the building at the top of the posts. That’s to keep mice and other rodents from climbing in and stealing the grain!
Do you imagine Travel restrictions will lift In a year from now?
Anyone know who this man is on the memorial rock?
Thanks for traveling Vicariously with me. Next year: Go for real!!
Have a Restful Thursday night.
See ya tomorrow. Meantime, enjoy some Swiss music.
The next You.Tube is a young man from Germany who is at an alphorn competition in Nendaz, Switzerland – very near where De and Andre’s home is in Sierre and their restaurant in Vissoie. He is delightful. Do take time to listen to him!
There is no better way To spend an autumn day Than to take a ride with friends Up into the Gravelly Range
We traveled along the Madison Overlooking the Palisades And enjoyed the river view And the hint of what’s to come
Every mile closer to Antelope Basin, our destination, The scenery became more and more breathtaking!
Lake at Antelope Basin
At the 7,000 foot level The autumn colors amaze The aspen are changing color From green to gold to orange
Golden grasses and blue sky Accented the purple mountains And created a wonderland For this appreciative photographer
Wow!
We went in and out of twelve Or more gates to keep cattle in They stood at the road’s edge Unperturbed by our noisy ATVs
When you sing of purple mountain majesty And you wonder what that might look like, Just come to Montana and you will Wonder no more… you’ll just be in awe!
We stopped by Hidden Lake To rest and have our lunch The lake is soooo beautiful And it really is hidden down there
Chuck and Caroline relaxed with Bob After enjoying a picnic lunch Penny & Rex were with us And TazE, too, of course!
Isn’t that blue sky spectacular? And the colors of the trees glorious? Don’t you wish you could be In an ATV traveling with us?
golden aspen
‘Tis time to return to our pickups Load up the four-wheelers Return down to our Madison Valley And look forward to the next trip.
Wish you could join us! I’ll share a couple more pics tomorrow. Have a good night. Thanks for traveling with me vicariously! Hugs, JanBeek
This place is the best for me. I love living in Montana. After watching that video, Can you understand?
There’s no place like Montana, But Switzerland comes real close. Both have beautiful mountain majesty! I love visiting our family in Valais.
What places do you love? Where do you like to visit in this world? My grandson shared the following pictures today. Italy’s one of my other favorite places.
Mike and his girlfriend, Tania, Are vacationing in Italy this week. They are enjoying great days in the sun, Hiking, shopping, swimming, loving it!
Mike & Tania – such a cute couple!
Tania on a shopping trip in Italy
Tania – out for a swim – beautiful young lady, huh?
They have a great view from their balcony.
Meanwhile, back in Switzerland, my middle grandson, Nick, is out for a hike with his girlfriend, Celine.
So good to see Nick & Celine so happy!
What a place to hike, huh? That’s Nicky out there!
It’s hard to beat Swiss scenes like this!
Back in Sierre, Switzerland, our daughter, DeAna, is enjoying an afternoon with my youngest grandson, Chris
De and Chris in Sierre, Switzerland
This could be their hiking path.
Not to be outdone, our son, Ty, is enjoying life, too. He and his oldest son, Sam, are relaxing in the high Sierra-Nevada mountains. This is the view Ty sent me today:
Ty’s view from his hammock
Ah, summertime, and the livin’ is easy… Fish are jumpin’ and the mountains are high. On this lazy summer Sunday, what are YOU doing? I’m gonna post my sermon notes from this mornings message.
Then I’m gonna go enjoy the lovely outdoors, too. What are you doing this beautiful Sunday afternoon? Go out and appreciate the beauty around you, And remember to thank the Lord for His handiwork.
Tell me about your day… what did you do? If you could put yourself into one of those photos today, Which place would be best for you? I’m wishing this pandemic was over so I could go to one of them!
But, life is good… I’m not complaining. Thank God for the internet and for kids who care – Care enough to include Grammy & Grampy In their adventures today. Oh, how I love ’em!
See ya later. Thanks for visiting. Please leave your comment!
Days in Montana Are out of a fairy tale: Unbelievable!
Come for a trail ride On Lucille, our ATV, Into the mountains.
Today North Meadow – First past gorgeous Sure Shot Lakes, Then to reservoir.
The fish were jumping – Little ones jumped on the fly. Big ones were cautious.
Lunch was relaxing With our dear friends, the Washburns. Wish you could have come!
Fireweed @ Sureshot Lake
Step up for a closer view!!
This place (Sureshot Lake) is a boys’ paradise!
Great friends: Roy & Barbara Washburn
Barbara’s first fish… Quick, get the hook out and throw him back in!
Barbara’s second fish was even smaller! Eventually she got a 7″ one.
Meantime, Roy caught eight fish – medium-sized – While Barbara struggled to catch the minnows!
And Bob caught one every other cast!
The fish are jumpin’ – Summertime – livin’s easy… And life is peaceful!
I actually was able to hear Ella Fitzgerald sing this in person when I attended her concert in Reno, Nevada when I was in college in the 50’s. What a thrill!!
Lunch break time. I sang “Summertime” to Bob as we relaxed after lunch.
And then after lunch & relaxation, The guys kept fishing!
Barbara & I enjoyed the scenes And did a little hiking Trails above the lake
TazE came with us We enjoyed the clear blue skies With clouds drifting by.
They call this Big Sky There’s a very good reason Unimpeded views!
Makes you want to keep on singing!!
Nothing beats Ella combined with Sachmo!! I love Louie Armstrong, don’t you?
Quake Lake
Quake Lake’s a wonder. Have you heard the great story? Come – and I’ll tell you!
Thanks for joining me for another beautiful Montana day. It’s so wonderful to live in this great state with the wide open spaces… especially during this pandemic. Nothing heals like Mother Nature at her finest… in Madison County, Montana.
After I posted a few sunsets tonight, my friend, Fran, sent me this photo of her sunset! She lives on the Madison River half way between me and Yellowstone National Park.
Take a look at this!! How would you like to have THAT view out your back door tonight?
For the beauty of the earth, For the glory of the skies, For the love which from our birth Over and around us lies:
CHORUS: Lord of all, to Thee we raise This our hymn of grateful praise
Pray with me:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise This our voice of righteous rage. Hear our anguish, hear our pleas. See us down on bended knees.
We are angered and hurting now By the lack of love that somehow Has made life unfair for our brothers, Made life a nightmare for too many mothers.
The hymn says we are supposed to have Love “from our birth.” We need a salve To spread that love to ALL our kin. We all are one – and we all live in sin.
It is the sin of overlooking The hatred and the needless booking, The deaths and harassment many face, The fear and hatred in this place.
Take away our bent toward sinning. Take away our need to be winning An upperhand when we all are ONE, ONE in Christ, Your Saving Son.
Check out this heart-wrenching account of what it means to be a black man in today’s divided, prejudice-filled society. God bless R. Eric Thomas and all those who feel the injustice he experiences:

Love is power within us all – Do not let it be silent!
For the beauty of each hour, Of the day and of the night, Hill and vale and tree and flower, Sun and moon and stars of light:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise This our voice of grateful praise.
For the joy of ear and eye, For the heart and mind’s delight, For the mystic harmony Linking sense to to sound and sight:
Lord of all to Thee we raise This our song of grateful praise.
Look at the earth and all our blessings. Let us thank God:
“All things come of Thee… Help us, Lord, to be grateful And to share our love and joy freely With ALL God’s children.”
Lucille is our ATV. We named our “all-terrain vehicle” after the popular 1950’s to ’70’s comedian, Lucille Ball, because she has a red head and she’s a “ball!” Look carefully at that photo and you can see Bob, TazE (our Boston Terrier), and me… ready to have a Montana springtime ball!
There I am!!
Just as a ship is launched to the sea, Bob & I launched Lucille on the mountains today. It’s not her maiden voyage; she’s a veteran for sure. But it was her first 2020 opportunity to play.
On our way to North Meadowcreek in the Tobacco Root Mountains
We went with two other couples; It’s a good thing we had them along Because when Bob got stuck in the snow, Rex was prepared for what went wrong
He had a long rope, and equipment galore- So he pulled old Lucille out in a flash. Us gals kept our 6 feet distance and watched. We didn’t want to intrude or do something brash.
CG Feldman helped pull our ATV back to safety after Rex Hocking used his four-wheeler and a lot of rope to pull our "Lucille" out… she had high-centered in the snow! pic.twitter.com/MMLIIarvGl
This video shows the end of the trial… CG pulled the rope by hand at the end, But Rex used it connected to his ATV To pull Lucille out – way beyond the bend!
We had a wonderful ATV day on top of the Tobacco Root Mountains with this spectacular view. pic.twitter.com/WoVLbvSQo7
We went to the very top of the mountain Where the sky was unbelievably blue – And there we had lunch – a spectacular view – Wish we could share this four-wheeling ride with you!

Bob and TazE
That snow-covered peak is gorgeous Mt. Baldy. From here, it’s a much different sight Than the way it looks from our house Where it seems rounded and shines ever bright.
Looking east toward the Madison Range
Headed back down the mountain
Beautiful ranch tucked into the hillside
I love seeing the cattle in the field
Newborn lambs with freshly shorn ewes
The weather could not have been More perfect for this ATV outing. Life in the Montana mountains is grand! Keeps me from sitting home – pouting!
TazE hangs out the side, enjoying the views
Back in McAllister Lucille rides the trailer home
TazE loves taking rides on Lucille, but now she’s ready to head home now!
Home again… See Mt. Baldy out there? I told you it looks rounded from our home. Strange, huh?
I’m so glad you came to JanBeek today To join our 2020 launch of Lucille. Now it’s time to get in the kitchen; Bob needs a hearty dinner meal.
You can find beauty Right in the space of your home Look in your kitchen
This is our daughter, DeAna’s, latest bread-making attempt. Looks pretty good, doesn’t it?
She sent a video of this loaf. In the video, she was cutting a slice and then tapping the crust for us to hear how crunchy it is. We had fun using “What’s App” to exchange some beautiful silliness. Then I wrote this Haiku:
Listen to the crust Crunchy and appetizing Crackle’s Symphony
Beauty in the kitchen … Beauty in the dining room … Beauty is where you make it … Beauty is where you find it.
Let beauty fill you!
