Wonderful People

I so love people
And I really need people
More as I’m aging

Certain things I do
I can do all by myself
If I remember

Other things I need
Someone’s help to accomplish
Like cleaning my house

a person cleaning a toilet bowl
Photo by Liliana Drew on Pexels.com

Toilets are the worst
And the most necessary
What’s the worst for you?

Bob says it’s weeding
He loves having help for that
Wonderful helpers

Wonderful helpers
Worked in the back yard with Bob
Priceless dear family

Wonderful Janet
Came to help today
Priceless kind neighbor

Make sure blood pressure
Is an accurate measure
Bob needed her help

Learning to request
And accept the help you need
Is not a “Guy Thing!”

Set aside ego
Admit you can’t do it all
It’s OK to ask

We all need each other!

It’s not so easy
To admit we need some help
Even for children

Our great-granddaughter
Needs help learning what to eat
Blocks are not the best!

But it’s not her fault
She just doesn’t know better
Wonderful folks teach

But not all folks learn
Oi, some adults still eat blocks
Or equivalents

Wonderful people
Never stop trying to teach
Always offer hope

Wonderful people
Tell us of HOPE’s origin
They are Living Hope!

Who are your true friends?
Who are the wonderful folks
Who’ve left their footprints?

Be sure to reach out
Tell them how much you love them
Yes, do it today!

So, “Thank you, Laina!”

And thank you, Jodie & Melissa!
You’re wonderful!

Love,
JanBeek

He is the One!

Robert E’s the One🥰

Oh, he stole my heart away ♥️

I’m so very blessed 😇

Happy Father’s Day 🥳

I thank God for who you are 😀

For your precious love ❤️

Bob & I met in the summer of 1958 at a hometown dance.
We had many mutual friends because
he came from his little town of Hughson, CA
in to the bigger town of Turlock (about 15 miles)
to church every Sunday.
I didn’t go to that same church,
so I didn’t meet him while I was in high school.

That summer after my freshman year in college,
I returned home to Turlock
and attended a dance at the War Memorial building.
It seems like all our mutual friends
decided it was time for us to meet.

“Fine to meetcha!”
he would say each time we were introduced.
“What did you say your name is?”

It took two weeks after that introductory dance
for him to call and ask me out.
And it was three and a half years later
when I was graduated and teaching,
and he was stationed at an army base in Germany,
that we married and I went to Wurzburg to join him.

Here’s the guy I fell in love with in 1959

I don’t have a photo here of us in Germany, but it was a magical 9 months. I got a job teaching on the army base … a darling first grade. And when we returned to the states, I resumed my teaching career and Bob finished college.

His job at Shell Oil in San Francisco lasted only a year or so. Then he went back to college and earned his teaching credential. Bob taught at Hillsdale High in San Mateo for nine wonderful years. During that time our children, Ty & DeAna were born.

Bob with De (3) and Ty (5)

We moved back to the Turlock area in 1969 and our kids attended school in Modesto while I taught in Ceres & Hughson and Bob returned to his roots: beekeeping. The rest is history!

I just want you to know that I thank God every day for the love Bob & I have shared these 60+ years – and the gift of family God has given us.

Our “children” – Ty & DeAna

I pray that you other moms & dads out there can look back as I do, and feel enormous gratitude for the person God gave you to be co-creators… may your children honor you this day, dads.

Thank you, Dear Lord, for telling me,

“He’s the One!”

He certainly is! God bless you, Bob!

Thanks for being such a great father!

Happy Father’s Day!

Love ❤️ JanBeek

Ah, Peace!

Absorb today’s peace
I’m sitting on the back porch
The wind chimes are still

Up high in the tree
A meadowlark sings to me
A good book awaits

Let company take the car
Have a raucous day
While here, peace abounds

Last night the whole gang
Enjoyed a lovely dinner
No dishes clean-up

Relatives and friends
Are sweet to come and visit
Enjoy catch-up time

Then come home to eat
Dessert on the patio
A cool, calm evening

And now let the calm
Of a peace-filled day alone
Refresh weary bones

Look carefully… see the double rainbow?

Let God’s promises
Reassure and relax you
Have a blessed day!

Genesis 9:12-13
ESV

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”

John 16:33
ESV

“I have said these things to you,
that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Wishes of Peace to you
from my son, Ty, and me.

God Bless You!
Let peace begin with us!

Just One Day

Today’s JetPack prompt was:

What’s a job you would like to do for just one day?

Just one perfect day
That’s all I’d actually need
To find a home for every dog

Just one perfect day
Find homes by some tennis courts
Make all dogs happy

Just one perfect day
Find homes for all the children
No need for orphanages

Just one perfect day
A universal wiper
Eliminate war

Oh, there’s so much more
I would love to accomplish
In one perfect day

With the perfect job
I would wipe away all tears
In a perfect world

What job would you like?

Let’s sign up for that perfect job…
for just one day!

Hugs,
JanBeek

Love Lifted Me

These happy singers lift me up … Do you feel the love?

Nay-Sayers

Share a wisp of love
In a world of nay-sayers
Let love lift you up

Our nay-sayer world
Filled with hate and divisions
Needs the love you share

Do not be afraid
To be a Pollyanna
Look on the bright side

Every issue has
A rotten and a dark side
Flip over the coin

Look on the bright side
The Truth is in the BS
A pony’s in there

Beneath all the crap
Lives the Word and the actions
We should emulate

Let hope lift you up
Take shovel and start digging
Find the love in there

Fertilize your life
With sincerity and grace
Uncover the love

This song was recorded in 1961, the year Bob & I were engaged, the year I graduated from college. Love indeed made the world go round. We were married in 1962 and I left the west coast of the USA for the first time and moved to Germany with Bob (who was stationed in the army there). My world became bigger… filled with new love!

Let love uplift you
Let love make your world sweeter
Eliminate crap!

Uncover pony
Rest in God’s peaceful pasture
Send nay-sayers out

John 10:9

“I am the door.
If anyone enters by me,
he will be saved
and
will go in
and out
and
find pasture.”

Love lifted me up!
I heard His voice and heeded
You can do that, too

Share a wisp of love
In a world of nay-sayers
Let love lift you up

Be a Yes-Sayer – share your love!
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Come on over for some chicken enchiladas!

Don’t these personify love?

See ya tomorrow.

Hugs,

A Merry Heart

“A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance,
but by sorrow of the heart
the spirit is broken.”

Proverbs 15:13

Use your merry heart
To be like an umbrella
Protection in storms

At the end of day
Your sweet, merry countenance
Is a lovely sight

Your positive view
Shines through the dark clouds of gloom
Lifting others’ hearts
💕

You’ve an extra dose
Merriment is contagious
You infect others

David Jeremiah’s entry in today’s devotional
in Ever Faithful was titled “A Merry Heart.”
It gave me the incentive for today’s post:

“After Richard Norris was badly disfigured
by a gunshot wound in 1997,
he remained hidden at his parents’ home for years.
They covered the mirrors
to keep him from glimpsing his face.
But a team of doctors…
gave Richard a new countenance.”

The scripture selected, Proverbs 15:13, fit the story perfectly.
Richard’s spirit was broken.
His sorrow of the heart was understandable.
David Jeremiah went on to link
Richard’s sorrow to us all:

“While Richard’s story is unusually dramatic,
there’s a sense in which we all need a new countenance.
Study the faces of people you meet every day…”

Oh how I love those
Last two pictures of my friends
Study every face

David Jeremiah goes on to suggest,

“Steal a quick glance at your own face
as you pass a mirror or reflective window.
…Our emotions inexorably flash through
the forty-three muscles in our face
and we communicate our feelings
through our eyes, brows,
and the set of our mouths.”

“One smile can light up a room;
one frown can darken a day.

“The Bible tells us a merry heart
makes a cheerful countenance.
Rejoice in the Lord today
and let the joy of Jesus shine through.”

I dare you to listen to this and not smile!!
You know I play the accordion, right?
Well this is a concertina… buttons on both sides.
Aren’t these kids adorable?

Open up you Merry Heart!
Mine is open for you!!

Love ya,
JanBeek

Open heart + Open hands = Merry, Cheerful Countenance

Boldacious

He coined “Boldacious”
And I immediately
Claimed it as my own

Dwight: Roth Poetry
Recognized the “Me” in it
It’s a perfect word

Colorfully Boldacious!

Recklessly Boldacious!

Carelessly Boldacious!

Repeatedly Boldacious

Lovingly Boldacious

Spiritually Boldacious

 “The righteous are bold
because they know that God is for them
and
what they have to say
is important.”

(Hebrews 13:6)

Cautiously Boldacious

Consistently Boldacious

What does the Bible say about boldness?
Being bold is having courage
and speaking out against what’s wrong
no matter what others think or say.
It’s doing God’s will
and continuing on the path
that He put you on
regardless of the hardship you face.
When you’re bold
you know God is always on your side
so there’s never a reason to fear.

Purposely Boldacious

Are you Boldacious?
You have every reason to be!
You are unique!
Use your uniqueness to the max!!
You gotta be you!

1 Peter 4:10-11

God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts.
Use them well to serve one another.
Do you have the gift of speaking?
Then speak as though God Himself were speaking through you.
Do you have the gift of helping others?
Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies.
Then everything you do will bring glory to God.
All glory and power to Him forever and ever!
Amen.

Step out BOLDACIOUSLY
You gotta be all God made you to be
TO THE MAX!

Have a boldacious day.

Boldacious JanBeek

High and Dry

Here we are today
High and dry in Placerville
Grateful for the warmth

Looking at the storm
From inside a comfy house
Thanking God for life

Feeling very blessed
A good book and some coffee
Listening to rain

Shhh! Hear the raindrops fall.., Well, you can imagine it, can’t you?

Grateful for the warmth
And the hospitality
Of our sweet family

Praying that you, also
Are safe and feeling God’s peace
Ready for what comes

God bless you today
May you know you’re in His care
Never be afraid

Friends, stay high and dry
Rise above all of the storms
Secure and at peace

My beloved son, Ty, and me
Safe and secure from all alarm
God protect you from all harm

Have a blessed day.
I send you my love today.

Hugs,
JanBeek

Are You Ready?

Hey, are you ready
For this twenty twenty-three
New for you and me

At Cannery Row
In lovely Monterey Bay
We had a great lunch

In the house next door
To where we are staying now
A huge tree fell down

It went through the roof
Destroying the entire house
Feeling so sorry

Morning in Carmel
Was sunny and beautiful
A break in the storm.

What beautiful friends
We shared a couple days with
Life’s full of blessings

We’re with Bob’s brother
At his home in Pebble Beach
Grateful no trees fell

Thankful for family
More than grateful for our friends
Pray for safe travels

Tomorrow we will
Return to our son, Ty’s place
Weather permitting

Hey, are you ready
For this twenty twenty-three
New for you and me?

I am!!

Happy Cheers, my friends!
See ya tomorrow – hopefully.

Love,
JanBeek
