Slow Down!

I’ve been telling myself – and you – to have faith,
To step out in faith and begin a new journey.
I’ve been telling myself to lean in and listen
To what God is whispering to me.

Well, He has been telling me to slow down.
“Stop and watch where you are going.
Slow down and move more intentionally.
Sit in the boat awhile – enjoy how life’s flowing.”

Looks like I did that for awhile, right?
But then I stepped on shore, running –
Flitting from one spot to the next,
I didn’t stop to just enjoy the sunning!

In April I fell and broke a finger.
In June I tripped and bruised my knee.
And yesterday I fell over backward –
Needed stitches to the head – Woe is me!!

Not a pretty sight!

I was dashing from garage to house
Carrying groceries in three sacks.
I couldn’t see my feet, so missed the step,
Lost my balance, and fell flat on my back!

My head hit the hitch on the trailer
And gashed my scalp an inch wide,
Two inches long – requiring 8 stitches-
More hurt than my head was my pride!

So the Lord said, “Third time’s the charm.
Be humble and listen to me please.
Be wise about what you carry and where you step –
People can die with falls like these!”

Okay, dear God, I got the message!
Slow down and watch where you walk!
Carry with your good hand, not your left…
Eyes open, steps secure, mind your own talk!

I’m sharing this advice with you, friends,
Because I hope you are wiser than I.
I hope you don’t have to have three mishaps
Before you heed the warning and comply!

SLOW DOWN AND WATCH WHERE YOU’RE GOING!!

My Daughter#2, Laina, sent me this poem
after hearing this morning
about what happened:

Oh my! Remember this?
Walked into the closing hatchback on our car!!
Slow learner I am!

Yes, indeed!
I need to slow down and watch where I’m going…
How about you??

See ya tomorrow (God willing)

Embrace Emotions

The Scream by Edvard Munch

My second grandson was the screamer.
He spent the first couple years of his life doing it.
He certainly knew how to let his emotions out!

Screaming may not be the best way as an adult
To emote your emotions!
What are some healthy ways to let these feelings out?

Fear

But some fear is real and intended
It’s good to embrace fear when a bear is growling at you
It’s good to fear a runaway truck or an avalanche
Know when to embrace fear!

Anger

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

Screaming in anger at a situation you can’t control
may not be the best way to embrace your emotion
But anger in itself is not wrong
Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers
Embrace righteous anger!

Sadness/Grief

In Daily Guideposts today, Erika Bentson wrote,

“Cowgirls don’t cry!”
She admitted that she is “not the type to carry tissues”
but instead she can “brush over ]her] feelings.”
“Mourning doesn’t come easily to me,” is how she began.
Even in the face of her father’s death, she “stayed strong – mostly.”

In the end of the article, Erika quoted a friend who told her,
“Tears are a testament to what a great dad he was.”
She encouraged her to let the emotions show.
“Don’t be ashamed that you’re human,” she told her.

Embrace your sadness!
Allow your grief to play out!

Ezekiel 36:26

“I will give you a new heart,
and I will put a new spirit in you.
I will take your stony, stubborn heart
and give you a tender, responsive heart.”

Embrace your tears!
Let them flow.

Shame

Speaking of
“Don’t be ashamed that you’re human,”
what about it?
Does shame have a place in our emotional outlet?

Psalm 34:4-5

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.”

Psalm 31:17

“O Lord, let me not be put to shame,
for I call upon You;
let the wicked be put to shame;
let them go silently to Sheol.”

Where does that emotion of shame fit in?
When we have screwed up and we know it,
When we have said something without thinking,
When we have done something to hurt someone else,
It is the shame we feel that causes remorse.
It is the remorse that leads to repentance.
It is the repentance that leads to “calling out”
And it is calling out that leads to forgiveness.
Do not wallow in shame.
Face your actions,
face your emotions,
and clear your conscience.

Confront your shame and eliminate it!

Despair

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

Do not despair!
Replace despair with hope.
Despair is not a healthy emotion.
We are humans, prone to error,
But we are not desperate!

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed;
perplexed, but not driven to despair;
persecuted, but not forsaken;
struck down, but not destroyed…”

Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God,
which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This is one of my favorite verses.
It is my faith that keeps me from despair-
And my prayer for you is that regardless of your circumstance,
you also can have the faith “which surpasses all understanding.”

Do not embrace despair!

Peacefulness

I feared that my second grandson, the Screamer,
would grow up to be a very disgruntled human being.
I should never have let that emotion embrace me.
Embrace the peacefulness of hope!
Embrace the peacefulness of letting go.
Embrace the peacefulness of knowing
God’s got this!!

There’s Nick – at peace with self and nature.

The emotions that accompany peacefulness
are joy, contentment, satisfaction, and submission.

Nick and Celine’s slippers with their peaceful dog

Embrace Peace!

Pride

What about that emotion of pride?
Pride in self? Pride in your accomplishments –
Pride in the person your children or grandchildren have become –
What about pride?

Proverbs 11:2

“When pride comes,
then comes disgrace,
but with the humble is wisdom.”

Romans 12:16

“Live in harmony with one another.
Do not be haughty,
but associate with the lowly.
Never be wise in your own sight.”

Bob is reading a book right now titled, Soul Survivor, by Philip Yancey.
In it he learned about thirteen people who influenced Yancey’s life.
One of them is Gandhi who always traveled third class.
When asked why, his response was,
“Because there is no fourth class.”

Humility

In the last years of his life, Gandhi adopted a man with leprosy.
Daily he bathed him and changed that man’s bandaged.

Proverbs 22:4

“The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.”

Gandhi was invited to meet the King of England.
Gandhi approached the king wearing only his loincloth.
A bystander asked him why he was dressed so scantily.
He responded, “He is wearing enough clothes for both of us,”

Gandhi embraced the emotion of humility to the extreme.
As a result, he was indeed rewarded with “honor and life,”
but his riches were not in gold and silver,
for he disdained material possessions,
his riches were in honor, peace, and a meaningful life.

When you go to Google and enter Gandhi’s name,
Mahatma Gandhi – Wikipedia, it will tell you:
“Mahatma Gandhi,
as he is known by his followers with reverence,
preached the philosophy of non-violence
which has become even more relevant today.
His commitment to non-violence
and satyagraha (peaceful resistance)
gave hope to marginalized sections of India.”

Humility is a Wonderful Emotional Outlet!

Embrace the emotions
associated with humility:

joy
compassion
contentment
satisfaction
and leave all your worries behind!

See ya tomorrow.

Tell Me:
Which emotion will you embrace more today?
And which will you try to release?

What Do You Seek?

On her blog yesterday, {{{Donna}}} at https://thefathersfeet.wordpress.com/ quoted,

Matthew 6:33-34 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. … Each day has enough trouble of its own… Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live … So don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own worries. … “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself.”

I asked Donna, “Do you know that song?”
She replied, “I do!” and then she sent me the song she was singing.

Here’s the one I was singing:

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God…”

Here I am up in my sanctuary…
early morning squished head!!

What is it you seek?
Is it the Kingdom of God?
Let’s pursue God first.

What are “all these things”? The scripture was referring to food and clothing… the basics… and reminding us how God takes care of the birds and the lilies of the field.

When I pursue the Kingdom of God and His righteousness,
I am seeking His wisdom.
I am seeking the peace that only He can give.
I am seeking understanding
and the deep compassion
that God’s Son taught us.
I am seeking to exemplify His love ❤️
and the joy that comes with Trust in His Promises.
🙏🏽 I seek His righteousness
so that I may exhibit greater patience,
kindness,
gentleness,
and goodness.

Seek Ye first the kingdom of God … and all these things will be given unto you.

Jesus prays with me each day!

Romans 12:2
“Do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your minds,
so that you may discern what is the will of God –
what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Pray for discernment
I love the Lord’s perfect will
Freckles and lashes!!

SnapChat can do wonders!

Hah!!

Do not let the world
Trick you into seeking pride –
It’s a dead-end street.

Do not let the world
Trick you into seeking wealth –
Not in hoarded coins.

Do not let the world
Tell you what to dream about –
Look in God’s Word.

Let the Son set you free.
You shall know the Truth
And the Truth shall set you free.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart.
In all your ways acknowledge Him.

I pray for you, my friend…
For your health, happiness, safety,
And for God to guide you in His Way.

God bless you!
See you tomorrow.
Love,

Live With Intention

What’s your intention?
Is it clear to you today?
Is it apparent?

Have you defined it?
Does “it” have a single word?
For me, it is PEACE.

Actually PRIDE
Has nothing to do with it.
It’s HUMILITY.

It is sincere love
Given with no thought to gain
Anything returned.

Anonymity
is the most beautiful way
Share your loving heart.

Set pride aside and just live intentionally to spread PEACE in these troubled times. Speak no ill of another. Pray for those who disappoint you. Pray for those who hurt you. Sincerely care for the transformation of those who sow seeds of hate. Be the LOVE you wish to see in the world. It starts with YOU and me!

What will you do intentionally to share your love today?

I am headed to my Writers’ Group.
I’ll share this blog with them.
Where are you headed?

See ya later.

You Have the Power

You Have the Power

This post is dedicated to my #1 Grandson.
He recently graduated from college,
received his well-earned diploma,
and has a couple of part-time jobs,
equaling 100% employment.
It was not an easy road,
but he has tenacity…
He stuck with it.
He did it!

I am so proud of him!

z-Perks' Wisdom: Your Power.jpg

Happiness is living life true
In a way that allows you
To be all God made you to be
And doing it on a path of integrity.

No one says it will be easy.
Sometimes it’s light and breezy,
But mostly it’s just hard work
And determination not to shirk.

So, run the race of life with grit.
Set your goal and stick to it.
When times are tough, keep going –
You crossed the finish line  knowing

You Have the Power!

Mike - finished race.jpg

Congratulations, Mike!

Did you, or do you have a person in your life who used their grit and tenacity to achieve a goal in spite of all odds? This post is for you!

And if you are in the midst of a struggle – wondering if the blood, sweat, tears, and heartache, setbacks and discouragements are worth it. Believe in your goals. Believe in yourself. Stick with it.

You have the power!

Have a good night.
It’s my bedtime.

Surrounded by Angels

On a cold and frosty Montana morning
I sit in my sanctuary – surrounded by angels
And the stillness within and without
Takes me to my inner sanctuary

Come and join me this morning
In the beauty of a winter day
From the warmth of my Angel Room
My place of respite, where the Holy Spirit dwells

Trump’s State of the Union

Do we have the courage

to seize this opportunity

to win for our country?

Is there power in

American pride today?

What were you thinking

as you listened tonight

to the State of the Union?

You can’t go wrong

by honoring and saluting

American war and space heroes.

Space travel promises and

Promises of quality of life

For all our citizens are

Words – Ideals we all embrace.

Common good – yes!

Political stalemates – no!

Greatness or Gridlock?

Duh, uh, I’m not sure.

Which do you choose?

”We are just getting started!”

I can believe that.

Can you?

So, what’s next?

Economic growth

and greater employment…

Opportunities for the disabled…

Show me!

Pompous claims – divisive smirks-

Divided applause – UNITY?

An ocean of white –

Chants of USA, but not by all.

Ridiculous partisan investigations?

Partisan wars?

Nominations stuck?

Bi-partisanship?

Mistreatment of veterans…

All agreed that should end.

Alice Johnson – prisoner –

Unfairness of criminal sentencing –

Tears, Joy, Accolades, Redemption

and Unity of Destiny.

Matthew Charles – released by

First Step Act – Unity!

Urgent National Crisis –

End border problems –

Solutions? 3,750 troops!

Protect lives and jobs

of our citizens, and acknowledge

contributions of legal immigrants.

Accusations of the speaker:

reduced jobs, increased crime,

very cruel attitudes of those who

advocate open southern borders.

Gang members streaming in.

Horrible heartache of Debra –

Compassion for her loss.

Oh yes, the folks who come

across our southern border

are all a threat to our safety…

Do you believe that?

Play on our fears  –

Convince us that sadistic

traffickers are all illegal aliens!

Common sense proposal

Sounds so sensible, yes?

Build a wall!

Smart and strategic.

Walls up, tunnels under,

Border cities, dangerous,

Fixed. ‘Cuz walls work. Do they?

Look at those 58% of women

Who filled new jobs last year.

They scaled the sexist borders!

Women in the work force = Unity!

Women in Congress = Right!

Congratulations!

Economic Empowerment for Women,

Chinese theft of USA – what?

Taking advantage of weak leaders!

Hmmm – trade blunders – who’s fault?

Bring back manufacturing-

4 Beautiful words =

“Made in the USA” – and rebuild

“Crumbling infrastructure” –

Unity!

Let’s protect those

with pre-existing conditions

and lower drug costs –

Unity!

Will a bill to lower costs pass!?

We see the value of

American freedom.

Will it bring politicians

to an agreement for the

benefit of all Americans?

Will it cause us to join

in a fight against

Childhood Cancer??

Grace Eli – so darling –

Brain cancer victim-

raised $40K for cancer fight –

completed her chemo.

She touched all of us.

Will her story inspire us all?

Paid family leave for parents

of a newborn child -yes!

What about the late-term abortions?

Right side stood and applauded.

Left side sat – but some clapped.

Where’s the unity for unborn,

late-term babies? Where?

Defense spending – military build-up,

INF treaty withdrawal, agreements –

outspend all others? Unity, nope!

Relationships with Korean leaders –

Divided applause.

Venezuelan connections – divided applause.

Socialism – Bernie Sanders- USA –

Complex and divided theories-

Israel and our relationships –

Divided reactions.

Wars abroad – new approaches –

End of endless wars – divided response.

Time to welcome home our troops:

Divided response. Where’s Unity?

Try for peace. Defend our people.

Kill leaders of the opponents…

Divided response.

Hero of USA – Cole – honor him!

Iran Nuclear deal withdrawal –

Divided response.

Where is our Unity!?

Confront prejudice and honor –

Officer Timothy Matson –

There’s our Unity!!

“Thank you. We are forever grateful.”

Concentration camp survivor –

Honor his 81st Birthday- UNITY!

“It’s the Americans!” UNITY!

Proof that God exists –  Herman –

Liberator – unifier – Joshua – 😘

We salute you both!

You did it for America;

You did it for us, and we are

Eternally grateful. Unity – yes!

Politicians coming from all of the USA,

We ask you to continue to work

in greater UNITY for the good

of all of us  – transcending our

differences and reigniting the

American imagination.

Choose to work for UNITY.

Go forward together.

This is my prayer.

Thank you, President Trump,

for your appeals for unity.

My prayer is for the unification

of our great nation.

No more divisiveness.

No more fear mongering.

No more partisanship.

Let us work as one

for our common good.

Yes!

The pundits are busy now.

Analyze what was said.

Second-guess the motives.

Question the energy.

But when all is said and done,

Can we come together as Americans?

Will we work together as one for the common good?

I’m trying…

Are you?
