Lessons Learned

Daily writing prompt
Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

I am not indispensable.
I used to think I was…
If I wasn’t there,
the school would have

shut down!!

Hah! Not true…
The custodian and the secretary
Are indispensable …
Not the principal!

So unlock the misconception!
Set yourself free!
You, too, my friend
Are not indispensable!

What lesson do you wish you had learned earlier?

Lighten up!
Live, love, laugh…
Peace to you!

Hug lots,

We All Lead

Today I decided to FOLLOW the PROMPT:
Do you see yourself as a leader?

Whether we know it or not, we all lead –
at least sometimes.
And whether we know it or not, we all follow
at least sometimes.

What is a leader?
That’s the question.

If you read David Jeremiah’s “Turning Points”
you will learn the trademark secrets
of great leadership and
of being a faithful follower.

These following pictures
from September’s Turning Points
introduce the various topics
of leadership by logo or trademark.

The not-so-secret to leadership
is LOVE worn in behavior.
Don’t we all want to follow
the person who exudes love?

We all wear our logo
on our sleeve or our faces,
in our hearts,
and in our actions .

Your identity as a follower is important.
It’s Who you follow that counts!
Follow the wrong leader
And you end up in the dumps!

Get the copy RIGHT!

Leaders often don’t realize they are.

Some leaders quietly go about
being great by caring for others.
Their example leads others
to want to follow in their footsteps.

I wish Jesus lived next door to me.
He’s the leader I choose to follow.
Where He leads me,
I want to obediently go!

My faithful Leader helps me
By putting upright friends
In my life – in my neighborhood –
Friends whose love I want to emulate.

Who do you follow?
Who leaves footprints on your heart?
When do you lead?
We all do both, right?

Hebrews 13:7

“Remember your leaders,
those who spoke to you the word of God.
Consider the outcome of their way of life,
and imitate their faith.”

Leader or follower?
Which are you?
Did you answer the prompt?
What did you say?

Thanks for visiting today.
Let me hear from you!
And have a Fabulous Friday!

Look up for your purpose!

Love,
JanBeek

Oh, and by the way,
I love “following” my WP friends.

You all inspire me to blog with love.
And I thank you who “follow” me.
I love you!

A Prayer for Humanity

I am sharing this post today from a new blogging friend because I think it is so beautifully written … and so powerful. S/He wrote it about three months ago, but it is timeless. Read on and see if you agree…

… I was inspired by a podcast episode that I was asked to be a part of concerning prayer. I chose …

A Prayer for Humanity

Ready, Set…

happy sportspeople of different ages preparing to run in forest
GO!!!!

My word for 2023 is “Ready!”
Most mornings I add one thing to my list of
whatever it is I am ready for.
Some days I don’t add anything.
Today is one of those days.
I am not ready for anything.
I just want to veg…

Ready, set,
REST!

Do you have days like that?
Do you let yourself just rest?
Do you have that privilege?

Cats know how to rest…
Let’s follow their example!

Matthew 11

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Some days we need to stop…
and
Just rest!

I’m gonna do that today.
You gonna take some time to rest, too?

Love ya,
JanBeek

This Dim Little Light

This dim little light
Is all that I have to give,
But I’ll let it shine.

John 1:5

“His life is the light that shines through the darkness –
and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

Even if my light
Is only a flickering
I know it matters

When I realize
My light remains connected
To His Source, I shine.

I shine more brightly
Because I invite Him in:
“Fuel my battery!”

Plug me in to YOU!!
I need Your Beloved Source!
Fuel my little light.

Little light of mine
Shine brightly into the world
Let God’s love show through

When life becomes hard
Don’t make your countenance grim
Turn your eyes toward Him

He’ll light your candle
He’ll flip the electric switch
He’ll send out His Son!

Yesterday was hard
I posted a note on-line
Asking for some help

But in the process
I named a non-responder
Asked for other names

A “bashing party”
Ensued; was not my intent

Yes, apologize
When you’re wrong just admit it
Shed some honest light

Shed light in the dark
Make amends the best you can
Even a dim light

This dim little light
Is all that I have to give,
But I’ll let it shine.

This little dim light
Is fueled by Love and the Truth
That’s all I can show

Lesson learned!
Thanks for visiting JanBeek
Have a Terrific Tuesday!

P.S.
Thanks for praying about my outta sight blood pressure.
It is coming down.
God is good!

Ah, Peace!

Absorb today’s peace
I’m sitting on the back porch
The wind chimes are still

Up high in the tree
A meadowlark sings to me
A good book awaits

Let company take the car
Have a raucous day
While here, peace abounds

Last night the whole gang
Enjoyed a lovely dinner
No dishes clean-up

Relatives and friends
Are sweet to come and visit
Enjoy catch-up time

Then come home to eat
Dessert on the patio
A cool, calm evening

And now let the calm
Of a peace-filled day alone
Refresh weary bones

Look carefully… see the double rainbow?

Let God’s promises
Reassure and relax you
Have a blessed day!

Genesis 9:12-13
ESV

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”

John 16:33
ESV

“I have said these things to you,
that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Wishes of Peace to you
from my son, Ty, and me.

God Bless You!
Let peace begin with us!
Love,
JanBeek

Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies

Arrived home yesterday
after a long weekend
traveling to a family wedding
in California.

Memorial Day…
A day to remember
those in the military
who died to keep us free.

Big Skies in Montana

O Beautiful for spacious skies,
for amber waves of grain …
(well, not grain, but lovely amber) …
Home sweet home!

For purple mountain majesty…

Above the fruited plain…

California has miles of grape vineyards…
(Talk about a “fruited plain!)

Switzerland has miles of vineyards, too.
This is where our daughter, De, lives in Valais, Switzerland.
All the mountainsides there on the sunny side
are terraced with vineyards!

(We, in America, are not the only
Land of the Free!)

Back home again, we are so grateful
we live in one of the “Lands of the Free!”

America, America,
God shed His grace on Thee!

Thank you to all our veterans
and all the men & women
who died to keep us free.

May God bless them all
as they receive their reward
in heavenly eternity!

1959

This is what Bob looked like when I first met him
(actually I had known him a year before he joined the army).
Anyway, I am grateful that he survived those years in the service.
I am thankful we survived a very stressful trip
to CA and back this weekend…
More about that in the next post.

God bless Bob
and all those who
serve(d) our country.

In the midst of Pentecost Sunday,
baptisms and weddings,
picnics, and travel plans,
may we not forget the real reason
for the three day weekend!

Rest in Peace, dear ones!
God bless you all!
Happy Memorial Day!

Love to you,
and hugs, too…
JanBeek

Duh!

What public figure do you disagree with the most?

From my Christian perspective, this prompt is a no brainer for anyone in the USA with a moral bone in his/her body. But I have good Christian friends who disagree with me, so why open the gap and create more divisiveness?

Let Justice reign!

Can we disagree and still love one another?

Let peace and unity be our goal.

Amen? Hugs to you from … JanBeek ❤️🙏🏽🥰

Just One Day

Today’s JetPack prompt was:

What’s a job you would like to do for just one day?

Just one perfect day
That’s all I’d actually need
To find a home for every dog

Just one perfect day
Find homes by some tennis courts
Make all dogs happy

Just one perfect day
Find homes for all the children
No need for orphanages

Just one perfect day
A universal wiper
Eliminate war

Oh, there’s so much more
I would love to accomplish
In one perfect day

With the perfect job
I would wipe away all tears
In a perfect world

What job would you like?

Let’s sign up for that perfect job…
for just one day!

Hugs,
JanBeek

Love Lifted Me

These happy singers lift me up … Do you feel the love?

Nay-Sayers

Share a wisp of love
In a world of nay-sayers
Let love lift you up

Our nay-sayer world
Filled with hate and divisions
Needs the love you share

Do not be afraid
To be a Pollyanna
Look on the bright side

Every issue has
A rotten and a dark side
Flip over the coin

Look on the bright side
The Truth is in the BS
A pony’s in there

Beneath all the crap
Lives the Word and the actions
We should emulate

Let hope lift you up
Take shovel and start digging
Find the love in there

Fertilize your life
With sincerity and grace
Uncover the love

This song was recorded in 1961, the year Bob & I were engaged, the year I graduated from college. Love indeed made the world go round. We were married in 1962 and I left the west coast of the USA for the first time and moved to Germany with Bob (who was stationed in the army there). My world became bigger… filled with new love!

Let love uplift you
Let love make your world sweeter
Eliminate crap!

Uncover pony
Rest in God’s peaceful pasture
Send nay-sayers out

John 10:9

“I am the door.
If anyone enters by me,
he will be saved
and
will go in
and out
and
find pasture.”

Love lifted me up!
I heard His voice and heeded
You can do that, too

Share a wisp of love
In a world of nay-sayers
Let love lift you up

Be a Yes-Sayer – share your love!
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Come on over for some chicken enchiladas!

Don’t these personify love?

See ya tomorrow.

Hugs,
JanBeek
