I said yesterday,
“See ya tomorrow.”
But today is tomorrow
And it’s almost gone!

Matthew 6:25
Therefore I tell you,
do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink;
or about your body,
what you will wear.
Is not life more than food,
and the body more than clothes?

Today
Is gone
Tomorrow is coming
Plan for the best
Relax

See you tomorrow…
For sure!
What will you be doing?

Super Bowl Sleepiness

Here we are – a great night – a great game – a delicious celebratory dinner – and stamina is so compromised, can’t stay awake to watch it!!

Well, that’s ok it’s recorded. He’ll watch it when he’s rested and ready to see it tomorrow!

Just gotta love that guy!

Meantime, cheers! I do love that guy!

Have a good night. God bless you. See ya tomorrow (God willing)

Hugs, JanBeek

We had a great drive around Ennis Lake with our Boston, TazE, today. Check out the pictures at http://www.Facebook.com/janbeekman

Stress Less

We overdid ourselves today with five “not so simple” tasks:
1) Get helpers to reassemble our fridge, move it back into the kitchen, and hook it up to water, etc.
2) Move the downstairs rug & pad up into the dining room
3) Move the living room rug and pad back to its place
4) Hang a few pictures back on the wall in the hallway and entry
5) Vacuum the new floors in the living room, dining room, and kitchen & dust everything

It was harder than it sounds – even with wonderful helpers!!

I am going to go to Bob with #8 and then
Take you up on #5

Which of those 9 pieces of advice
do you think will work best for you today?

Tomorrow
gotta clean that fridge and put stuff back into it
(Oh – it’ll be so nice to have it accessible again!)

Good night!

Thanks for visiting JanBeek today…
See ya tomorrow (God willing)…

Ah TazE… she beat me to bed!!

Heavy Burdened

Photo by Vlada Karpovich on Pexels.com

I am unable to sleep tonight. Part of it is restless leg syndrome. Do you ever suffer from that? If so, what do you do about it?

Part of it is the burden of unfinished business. I FAXed a request to Pfizer for financial assistance in order to get Bob’s medication for his heart trouble, but I am not sure the company received my FAX. I received no verification. I need to follow up. Can’t do it at 2: in the morning, but it weighs on my heart and I am restless. The heavy burden of unfinished business is weighing me down.

So, I got up and decided to read a few devotionals, check out some Bible verses that might help me, and see if I can get back to sleep. I prayed for God’s help, and of course (as always) He delivered. Right in my e-mail box, here was just the message I needed from:

The Tired Elk

I relieved his shoulder from the burden.
Psalm 81:6, CSB

Are you carrying around a heavy burden?

So was a bull elk in Colorado who somehow stuck his head into an abandoned car tire and got it caught around his neck. As his antlers grew, the tire was impossible to shake off. He was tracked for two years as he wandered around “tired.” His heavy rubber necklace weighed him down day and night. Finally, wildlife officials were able to find and tranquilize him. They removed the heavy weight from his neck before releasing him back into the wild.

Recommended Reading:Psalm 81: 1 – 10
The Lord knows how much we can carry, and He knows how to lift the burdens from our shoulders at the right time. We can cast all our cares on Him, knowing He will care for us in His timing, in His will, and in His way.

Like that elk and this poor soul with head in hand, feeling overwhelmed, I realized I need the abandoned car tire removed from around my neck! I can’t do it alone. So, go to the Word, Jan. Take Dr. Jeremiah’s advice and go to your Bible and then go to God in prayer. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30

28 “Come to me,
all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you
and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy
and my burden is light.”

Do you suppose Jesus is laughing at me right now?

“Silly Jan!” He may be saying. “Why are you trying to carry this burden alone? You know I am with you. Hand it over… I got this!”

“OK, Lord. Take this tire off my neck and shoulders. Take the heat and flutters from my legs. I will rest in you. Tomorrow I can do what I cannot do in the middle of the night. Tomorrow I’ll call Pfizer and see about Bob’s medicine. Thank You for being here for me.”

Go to sleep!

Good night!
Peace be with you.
See ya tomorrow (for sure!)

Love ya,
JanBeek

Embrace Day’s End

Sunset
Cooling down
Illuminating the clouds
Allowing colors to change
Night

Do play this beautiful music
and hear the soothing sounds
as you read on…

Sit
Find peace
Embrace day’s end
Reflect on today’s highlights
Breathe

Observe
Changing seasons
Time passing by
Snow melting in mountains
Notice

Capture
Time slowing
Night creeping in
Birds finding their nest
Sleep

Imagine
Better tomorrows
Problems being solved
God’s blessings poured down
Nightfall

Clouds
Drifting by
Silently gathering momentum
Taking troubles with them
Peace

Beautiful wonderful and majestic
Ocean Sunset Guincho Beach
I hope you’re listening to that

Glowing
Slowly disappearing
Taking struggles away
Timeless tides – shifting sands
Goodnight!

See you tomorrow (God willing!)
Love,
JanBeek

Embrace Your Reset Options

EMBRACE YOUR RESET OPTIONS

It’s five o’clock in the morning
I’ve slept the whole night through
But five is too early to rise for me
Is it too early for you?

I pushed the reset button
And told my mind to relax
But it just wouldn’t stop sayin’
Go dig in the fridge for some snacks!

I found some left-over pizza
And a bottle of wine jumped out, too
But it’s only five in the morning
Too early to drink and to chew

Go back to bed said my senses
Close up the computer and fridge
But that pizza looked so tempting
Come join me – we’ll eat just a smidge!

When I saw in the corner a bottle
Of that left-over yummy red wine
So what if it’s five in the morning
Come join me – it tastes mighty fine!

Reset the clock for tomorrow
It’ll be here before we are through
And maybe you can slip under the covers
Before anyone else has a clue

This ain’t my usual posting
No scriptures or sermon notes here
But, heck it’s five in the morning
And the Devil needed his reset, too!

Is God Asleep?

Photo by Ryutaro Tsukata on Pexels.com

Where’s God?
Is God asleep?
It seems to me
In these days of COVID
He is fast asleep at the helm.
Where do His miracles abide today?
God does not sleep in dark times;
He lights a candle and waits for our
enlightenment to see His path and find the dawn.

Yesterday was Quadrille Monday at d’Verse.
Lisa asked us to use the word abide
for our prompt
and write a Quadrille –
– poem of 44 words.

Photo by Jane Pham on Pexels.com

I was inspired by Dwight at Roth Poetry
who wrote his quadrille using
“Abiding Love” as his subject.
Thank you, {{{Dwight}}} –
I loved your poem.
You will, too, dear WordPress friends!

Rest assured –
God is not sleeping!

Thanks for visiting JanBeek.
Try a quadrille – and share it with me, ok?

Choose your own theme using “Abide” in it.
It’s fun!

A Dozen Ways to Increase Happiness

I found this list of twelve ideas to be most helpful today. The ones I do already are evident: meditate, practice gratitude, think positively, and eat foods that nourish me. But, some of the others, I think I need to be more intentional about.

So, I decided I will pick two a day and concentrate on them. How about you? Which ones are already a part of your routine? Which ones do you think you might add?

Today I am going to intentionally “Listen to My Favorite Music.” One of the songs that speaks to me was featured on Roth PoetryPoetry From the Heart! I listened to four versions of the song, Bridge Over Troubled Waters. One told of the song’s origin by Simon & Garfunkel, another was sung by Aretha Franklin, one by Josh Grobin, and then my favorite, Elvis.

This song is so appropriate to how I am feeling today as we learned the USA election results today and I think we are facing a few months of contentious litigation and transitional turmoil. I pray we can find a bridge over troubled waters, just as Dwight Roth suggested on his blog by that title yesterday.

And the other idea I will choose from the dozen ideas above is “Smile and Laugh More.” To that end, here are a few that made me smile and laugh. How about you?

And if you are a fan of Donald Trump, I hope I did not offend you. Here is another:

OK – enough on politics! Let’s find more neutral laughter.

I DID have trouble sleeping last night!
How about you?

It’s weird being the same age as old people.

Oh, I think I might have posted
that last one a few weeks ago.
But if I can’t be sure, can you?

Have you ever noticed that what’s funny to one person may not be funny to another? Be sure to make your laughter as innocent as possible. I’m not very good at that. But, hey we’re all a work in progress, right? Tell me a joke that made you laugh today!

Hah!

Thanks for visiting JanBeek today.
See ya tomorrow.

Expert Advice

If you were seeking

Expert advice, expert care,

Where would you look for it,

Where would you go?

Depends on the need –

Depends on the problem –

Depends on the availability

Of the help you seek, right?

.

If you’re asking about medicine,

a doc or pharmacist can share

what they have been trained to know,

But they might not be the best bet for food.

.
ham burger with vegetables

Who do you ask when you’re looking for a super burger?

I needed good advice today

For the best spot to go

for a veggie burger.

Surprisingly, my dental hygenist

knew just the place!

Five Guys menu . I got a veggie sandwich here.

It was delicious.

You never know who might help

when you seek advice.

I didn’t know Five Guys even existed!

I’ll go back – it was fresh,

Service was good,

and the price was quite reasonable.

Just remember, it never hurts to ask.

Expert advice may be

right around the corner.

And from a most surprising source!

If it’s spritual advice

you are seeking,

Don’t overlook that handy dandy book

that may be gathering dust

in the corner of your bookshelf!

Oh no, not you!

Your favorite books never gather dust,

right? .

I start each day with this one.

Great advice contained in there!

It was a busy day today.

I went to Bozeman mid-day

for my routine dental appointment.

Accomplished a lot while in the “city.”

Now it’s time for bed.

I may ask TazE for her expert advice

on how to get a long, sound sleep!

See ya tomorrow.
