Embrace Stretching

There are so many ways to stretch
And so many meanings to the word
Stretch your body and your mind
Stretch and let your soul be heard

Flexibility of mind and body
Are a result of regular stretching
Reaching just beyond your limits
Helps you find the goal you’re fetching

No one needs to feel they’re stuck
At a level that’s not satisfying
Keep stretching, reaching, believing
And you’ll get to where you’re trying

Our minds are powerful tools
They take us where we want to go
Stretch your vistas with good books
Let them round out what you know

It’s not just body and mind that stretch
When you apply the “Elastic Principle,”
Look for life’s other areas
Where you want to be invincible!

Stretching our ideas to help us be
More flexible in odd situations
Helps us be more successful
In all sorts of challenges or vocations

Do you know the Tijuana Brass?
It was one of my favorite groups in the late ’50s & ’60s
His music stretched across the world!

My mind stretched immensely when
I traveled to Europe as a newlywed
I thought the USA was the world’s haven
And I found multiple havens instead!

Don’t squirrel away in a tiny space
Limiting your mind to prejudicial thoughts
Stretch your experiences and horizons
By seeking out new, delightful spots

Stretch your imagination in order to see
Sites that inspire you to face with glee
Each new day and its many wonders
They’re right here – and they’re free!

Are those the cutest baby owls you’ve ever seen?

Stretch your imagination to create
Space in your life to wander afar
Walk along paths of flowers blooming
And stand beneath your favorite star

Embrace stretching and soon you’ll see
The world through eyes expectantly
Looking at the mundane differently
Participating in life gleefully

Embrace Stretching!

A Satisfied Life

A satisfied life
Is one that applies knowledge
In constructive ways.

Use knowledge wisely.
Then your mind, soul, and heart will
Find satisfaction.

Today our daughter, De, in Switzerland shared some pictures of the renovating and decorating and menu planning they are doing in preparation for the Grand Opening of their new restaurant in Vissoie. I am so excited for them! De and Andre’ are using all the knowledge and wisdom they can muster to create an inviting ambience and delightful dining experiences.

Their darling new restaurant

A cozy corner just for you
This yellow top will be replaced. with a wooden circle,
“The Round Table” was always
our favorite gathering spot
in their previous restaurant.

Our grandson, Mike, is a great photographer. DeAna does a wonderful job, too. They have chosen some of their best shots taken in and around Valais and created a delightful, inviting entrance to the dining room and bar.

Isn’t it inviting?
We told De she should offer to sell the photos.
I think there’d be buyers, don’t you?
My grandson, Mike, could use the cash!

Now, take your knowledge
And with wisdom apply it.
Gain satisfaction!

Thanks, De, for the pictures!

See ya tomorrow.

Be all that God made you to be.
Ask Him to help you meet
the people He wants you to meet.
Ask Him to help you know what
He wants you to say.
Ask Him to help you do
what He would like you to do.

Take responsibility
for
yourself.

Why Write?

One reason we write:

It etches wisdom deeper

Into heart and mind.

Give me another reason why you write.

(Your answer doesn’t

Have to fit this 5-7-5

Lovely Haiku form)

But it could 🤪👌🏽

It’ll Be Greater Later

I just heard Comedian Michael J say,

“It’ll be greater later,”

And I thought, “Wow!

What a great way to approach difficulties.”

Are you going through a trial period?

Michael J. suggests that we

Fast forward to the end of the story.

Imagine a positive outcome.

Find the good that can come of this.

Tell yourself, “It’ll be greater later.”

When I was in enormous pain

Following knee replacement surgery,

That mental attitude would have helped me.

The message was delivered to Pastor Ray

On his Facetime with Michael J

And it was broadcast via YouTube

On the daily Bayside Church devo called ReFuel.

Check it out!

Every day this week Pastor Ray,

Who just had knee replacement surgery,

Has interviewed a different joy-filled guy.

Inspirational ideas for how to find

Joy in the midst of pain

Have been shared by great guys like

My favorite joy-filled person:

Bob Goff (of “Love Does” fame).

“It’ll be greater later!”

Believe it. Hang in there!
