If you were seeking
Expert advice, expert care,
Where would you look for it,
Where would you go?
Depends on the need –
Depends on the problem –
Depends on the availability
Of the help you seek, right?
.
If you’re asking about medicine,
a doc or pharmacist can share
what they have been trained to know,
But they might not be the best bet for food.
.I needed good advice today
For the best spot to go
for a veggie burger.
Surprisingly, my dental hygenist
knew just the place!
. I got a veggie sandwich here.
It was delicious.
You never know who might help
when you seek advice.
I didn’t know Five Guys even existed!
I’ll go back – it was fresh,
Service was good,
and the price was quite reasonable.
Just remember, it never hurts to ask.
Expert advice may be
right around the corner.
And from a most surprising source!
If it’s spritual advice
you are seeking,
Don’t overlook that handy dandy book
that may be gathering dust
in the corner of your bookshelf!
Oh no, not you!
Your favorite books never gather dust,
right? .
I start each day with this one.
Great advice contained in there!
It was a busy day today.
I went to Bozeman mid-day
for my routine dental appointment.
Accomplished a lot while in the “city.”
Now it’s time for bed.
I may ask TazE for her expert advice
on how to get a long, sound sleep!
You all know I love honey,
And bees are dear to my heart.
How can we protect these pollinators?
Where do we even start?
.
We begin with our children
As we teach them the value of bees.
We show them how to protect
The insects around us – such as these.
.
We show them up close pictures
And let our fascination spread
To the next generation
As we substitute awe for dread.
There’s so much we can learn from these
Social insects who do so much good.
Let’s open our minds and our wonder
To help others do what they should.
.
Enjoy God’s nectar, the honey,
And thank the producers, the bees.
Let’s do all we can to protect them…
There are no more important life form than these!
It’s a message worth teaching
It’s a message worth preaching.
Do your part!
Thanks for visiting…
Have a great first week of Autumn.
Love, JanBeek
See ya tomorrow.
True Friends
God has blessed my life
With a circle of true friends.
Some are close enough to hug,
Others are scattered to earth’s ends.
.
Regardless of their physical proximity,
My true friends are always with me.
When we reach out to each other,
Their love stretches out to gift me.
.
Some soul sisters I have known briefly,
Others are friends a decade or more,
And a few treasured true friends
I’ve known since I was young and poor.
Some are older, wise, and vibrant,
Some are family living far away,
Some are neighbors, always near and supportive,
Some are my buddies who join me in play.
Some are families who make life special –
Some are in-laws who keep in touch –
Some are couples who invite us over –
All are a part of me… and I love them so much!
Kuan Tao-Sheng as quoted in Theodor Reik’s book, Of Love and Lust:
“Take a lump of clay,
Wet it, pat it,
Make a statue of you
and a statue of me.
Then shatter them, clatter them,
Add some water,
And break them and mold them
Into a statue of you and me.
Then in mine, there are bits of you,
And in you there are bits of me.
Nothing shall ever keep us apart.”
God has blest my soul
With true friends who make me whole.
I carry bits of them where e’re I go.
They round me out so I can roll.
I roll with the punches life flings,
I weather the storms life brings;
I reach out to friends, and they to me.
So no matter the trouble, my heart sings.
Thank You, God, for life’s true friends.
Thank You for God’s Holy Spirit, too.
He is the friend who’s with me always.
I pray that He’s a True Friend to you.
God bless you, my dear blogging friend!
Thank you for being a friend who visits and comments.
Your participation in my blog means
the world to me!
I lie there awake
It is three in the morning
Counting sheep in vain
Last night was the same
But I told my friend Derrick
That I’d count ponies
.

Check out his blog.
It won’t put you to sleep.
It is delightful reading
and his photography is superb!!
Now I need to count ponies and try to get some sleep.
What works for you when you can’t sleep?
Are we Using our Gifts?
Today’s sermon notes from the message delivered at
The Madison Valley Presbyterian Church
Ennis, Montana
by Rev. Steve Hundley
inspired by the message Paul wrote to
the church in Corinth: 1Cor.1:1-9
It’s really not OK to live in your own little world, keep your gifts to yourself, and fail to step out with courage and faith to share the spiritual gifts God has given you. Today’s message focused on the problem we have when we hoard our gifts, keep the to ourselves, fail to use our talents to glorify God and benefit others. Steve Hundley called his sermon “The Gifted Church.”
I listened and noted the message through my own filters writing:
Paul wrote four letters
Amen
To the Corinth people.
The church there had problems;
They struggled ‘neath their steeple.
But it wasn’t a typical
Place with steeple on a peak.
Instead, they met in a house
Large enough to fit those who who seek
To worship God through Christ.
It was an urban setting.
The church was being attacked
By the townfolk who were vetting
Their frustration at Christians.
There was a gap between rich and poor.
It was a hindrance to worship
When the poor were scorned by those with more.
Corinth was a diverse city.
The church was diverse as well;
But their real problem was their gifts
With which they were gifted. (Do tell!)
We are weakest at the point
Of our greatest gift, when it
Is a crutch, not shared, not used
To glorify God, help others, and send it
Out to make the world better.
But when we use our gifts
To be part of something bigger –
And we thank God who lifts
Us up, then our gifts are used
To make our talents worthwhile.
Like the people of Corinth,
We must not let our gifts go into a pile
Where they are lost and wasted.
Talents not shared are wasted gifts.
There are talents everywhere,
But until we use them for others,
who will know? Who will care?
This is a church full of talented people
Whose gifts are very apparent.
You use them here and in the community.
You spread your joy; your love is transparent.
If Paul were alive today,
He would write a letter to praise you.
Keep on sharing, caring, using your gifts –
And let His loving spirit raise you
To His blessings.
What talent are you willing to share this week? Make your gifts count!
.
It’s the middle of the night here in Ennis, Montana, USA.
I can’t sleep.
Do you ever have that problem?
What do you do about it?
There’s an old song that comes to mind.
These may not be the exact words,
but it goes something like this:
When you’re troubled and you can’t sleep,
Count your blessings instead of sheep;
and you’ll fall asleep
counting your blessings.”
OK, just be happy…
Life is good-
Even at 3: in the morning!!
What sport do you love?
I enjoy watching football … especially when it is Montana State University whomping their opponent!
MSU has 56 and Norfolk U has 21.
That’s an unreal score for the offensive team. Good job!!
When someone asks you what sport you love, you don’t think about spectator sports so much as your own participation, right?
When I was younger, I loved playing tennis. It kept me fit and trim and connected me with friends who also loved to play. I dreamed of dying on the tennis court someday when I was 90+ years young… defeating my husband on the court …
Well, that’s probably not going to happen. But, what a way to go, huh? Playing some sport you love and beating somebody you’ve loved to play with for 60+ years. We should all be so lucky!
Tell me about your favorite sport … and how you dream about dying (no, I realize that’s my weird dream… you don’t have such crazy thoughts!)… Just tell me about the sport you love.
In the midst of life’s struggles, we need strength, courage, and assurance. Where do we find it?
Joshua 1:5-9 “No one will be able stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you. Be strong and courageous… Be strong and very courageous… Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
In my morning devotional today
from In Touch Ministries,
this very scripture and topic were discussed.
Yes, obstacles are faith’s fertilizer!
As the devotional said,
“Obstacles are one way our faith can grow.”
What obstacles are you facing today? They may not be as serious as cancer of the esophagus, but every challenge we face is an opportunity to lean on our faith and allow the obstacle to grow us. Use them as stepping stones. Know that God is with you. Be assured by that cross that hangs in my sanctuary and reminds me daily to remember what our Creator tells me: “Be Still and know that I AM God.” .My cousin’s husband is Jehovah’s Witness. I have sent him a couple of inspirational cards wishing him well and reminding him that I have him in my daily prayers.
.My cousin told me in her e-mail today, “While he may not agree with all your theology… he most certainly believes in God and appreciates your prayers.”
I am reminded that God is soooo much bigger than religion. God is the Creator of us all. God loves and cares for us all. We may not practice our religious beliefs the same way, but our faith in God binds us together as one.
As Christians, we say we are “One in Christ.” We believe in the Trinity – that God and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are One. Who am I to say that those who say we are “One in God, our Creator” are wrong? God is Omnipotent. He sees into the heart of us all. When He promises, “I am with you,” he’s talking to you … each of you! .What obtacles are fertilizing YOUR faith today? Be still and know God is with you.
Now, go in peace.
Let your obstacles become stepping stones.
See ya tomorrow.
You are my angel
You flew in to visit here
God Bless You, my friend!
You are my angel
Do you believe in angels?
You should; you are one!
Continue to Believe.
I love you!
See ya tomorrow.
