Are You Crispy?

I’m just crispy!

Yes, I am not old
No, I am not young either
Except in my heart

Mentally, I’m young
Every day I learn something
Something new each day

My day’s not wasted
If, at the end of the day
Something new’s added

So, what have you learned
That is new for you today?
Crispy is an age!

And extra crispy
Is an advanced age for you!
So, please enjoy it!

Hah! Enjoy your day!

Love,
JanBeek

I Can Let Joy In

I can let joy in
Joy doesn’t cancel out pain
It gives strength pockets

Little joy pockets
Give us strength to carry on
Regardless of pain

Make room in your heart
For joy whenever you can
Let your joy expand

Let joy consume you
Let it lighten heavy heart
Smile at what joy brings

Not PollyAnna
Not ignoring life’s struggles
Just rising above

Looking down on pain
From a higher perspective
Puts it in its place

Fill your strength pockets
With the perseverance gained
By letting joy in

Smile!
God loves you
And so do I!

Hugs & Joy to you,
JanBeek

I Can TRUST

Three out of four of the devotionals I read yesterday and today had the word TRUST as one of the main topics. Everytime I see the word trust, I draw a rectangle around it and affirm, “I Can Trust.” Today I decided to write about TRUST in my journal, “I Can and I Will, Watch Me.” My mind just thought about it in a Haiku format. Here’s what the result was:

I CAN Trust

I know I can trust –
The world may feel chaotic,
But I reclaim peace.

Unsettling events,
An unknown future,
Don’t define my mood.

I am claiming peace.
I see where my power lies:
It’s trusting in God.

What I want in life,
Peace, love, joy, kindness and faith,
Are mine when I trust.

I know I can trust
In the Ruler of my heart
To heal what’s broken.

Heal the world’s chaos,
Bring back Unity for all.
I can trust my God!

Thinking of you and sending love your way.
Trusting Him to guide you and me through the storms of life.
What storms are you facing?

Thanks for visiting…

I Can Stay in Touch

I can stay in touch
Though miles separate us
Thanks to internet

I love the selection of memes available

I can stay in touch
Thanks to the power of prayer
I feel close to you

I can stay in touch
Using WhatsApp on my phone
It is a great tool

When I stay in touch
With the help of my iPhone
Distance disappears

I can stay in touch
Across wide, long, deep spaces
Nothing can stop me

You can stay in touch
Through the power of WordPress
Come on, write to me!

I’ll write back to you
You are not too far away
We can stay in touch!

I CAN Say Goodbye

I can say goodbye

I can hug and squeeze them tight

Send them on their way

Farewells at the airport
Good morning Sunshine!
I Can Say
Goodbye to September…

… and Hello to Autumn!
October is here.

Hello to blended mango margaritas and…
… hello to more trips to Bozeman
and to enjoying the fall colors while we go
I can say reluctantly goodbye to green grass and bright flowers
… and say hello to orange sunrises
and sunsets and pumpkins

Yes, I can say
Hello to cooler days
and colder evenings
(but we’re not ready for the snow yet!)

Seasons come and seasons go.
Company comes and company goes.
But family (ah yes, family) stays in our hearts forever
regardless of how many times we have to say goodbye!

To what are you ready to say goodbye?
And hello to what?
Tell me!!

Love,
JanBeek

Be Unoffendable!

I took my sermon notes as a series of Haiku
today in church.
Let me share those notes with you.
It was a wonderful message
delivered by our interim pastor,
Brian Conklin.

Live in unity
Choose love over labeling
Walk in the spirit

Be a peacemaker
Listen to one another
Hear others’ stories

Share humanity
See Christ’s imprint in others
Exhibit goodness

Show agape love
It’s the highest form of love
Unity and grace

Two hundred forty
Plus nine years ago there was
Freedom declared here

Our nation declared
One land – indivisible
But, we divided

We let politics
Rule over our heart, soul and
Our identity

We need freedom TO
Exercise our highest good
Not just freedom FROM

We need open hearts
Hearts that seek to heal others
Not drive them apart

Stop all the fighting
Show love, not hated discord
Celebrate freedom

Hear one another
Just lift one another up
Be calming healers

Unoffendable
Means listening openly
Try understanding

Openly share faith
Faith in each others’ goodness
Hope for our future

Live in hope and peace
Just be unoffendable
Wear love on your sleeve!

Amen?

Love,
JanBeek

Romans 12:18

If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Let us Shop with Love
For it is the thought that counts!
That’s my “take-away.”

  • Follow the path God has set before you
  • Pursue peace always!
  • Sing hymns of praise
  • Take joy in celebrations
  • Rejoice and give thanks always
  • Take everything to God in prayer

Answered Prayer

Today I thank God
For His faithful answered prayer
We feel very blessed

Imagine waking
To a toilet filled with blood
And a scared husband

A trip to ER
Three hours with competent staff
Myriads of tests

Here are your results
Please come back tomorrow, Bob
Our hospital’s full

Good thing it’s only
Less than five minutes from home
Very convenient

While I sat with Bob
In the emergency room
I texted family

From California
To DeDe in Switzerland
I contacted friends

Everyone sent prayers
Asking God to oversee
And of course He did

We are encouraged
The loss of more blood has ceased
Yes, friends, God is good!

;o)

Psalm 66:19

“But truly God has listened; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.”

Keep on praying, friends
And know God is listening
He hears and answers

Love ya,
JanBeek

Our 59th anniv. in 2021 –
Now happily living our 62nd year together. God bless Bob!

God’s Love

Contemplate His love
Let it seep in to your soul
Then let it spill out

Have a love-filled day!
Hugs,
JanBeek

Gracious Friend & Helper

Dear Peter Martin
Our gracious friend and helper
Spent three days with us

Bob’s former student
Like a loving son to us
Came to cheer up “Coach”

His visit cheered us
His help was more than priceless
Where are my pictures?

I videotaped
Weed-whacking and visiting
Wanted to show you

Imagination
Will create you images
My iPhone ate them!

This picture is old
From another visit here
God bless dear Peter!

Are you fortunate
Enough to have such dear friends?
I pray that you are.

Love,
JanBeek
