My Heart Aches

My Heart Aches
and
I’m hanging it out to dry

As the snow falls outside and rests

Heavy on the evergreen branches,

I rest, too, heavy and troubled in
The warmth of my peaceful indoors.

Snow Piles

Montana snow piles

Are five feet tall and rising

Push them to the side

Quiet My Soul

We’re snowed in!

The four foot drift

Behind my car is tall;

Not looking very friendly at all.

The flakes still fall.

It’s too much to shovel

And once that’s removed

What about the three foot waves

Gathered here creating graves

In our long driveway?

“I have composed

And quieted my soul”

Psalm 131:2 is a reminder

To take off the blinders;

Trust God, the Perfect Finder.

He helps me find what matters most.

I trust Him to quiet my soul.

Help me not to implode in

This spot, but find the Jesus road in

Whatever place I am snowed in.

The path isn’t blocked;

The wheelbarrow of tasks

May be inaccessible, but I can

Find His plan if I scan

 The land where I am.

So, compose my soul, dear Lord.

Help me find peace

And contentment. Just tuck me

In and channel me; don’t chuck me

Right where You’ve stuck me!

Don’t let me get caught in

This web of cold and confusion.

You’re here to hold me.

You protect and you mold me.

I will trust what You’ve told me.

Amen?
and Amen!

Bee a Joy-Bringer!

Bee a Joy-Bringer!
Why not spread lots of sweetness?
Plenty to be found!

There are so many reasons
To be joyful every day.
Open my eyes, Lord,
To the smiles in my way.

Mountains to climb
I can carry all the troubles,
See the gloom and the doom,
Or I can listen to the birds
As their song fills this room.

I can marvel at snow
Or complain of the drifts.

Open my heart, Lord,
To be ready for shifts.

Shift gears to the joy
Each fresh, new day brings.
Help me bee a joy-bringer;
Turn winter hearts into springs!

Snowy Wordless Wednesday

Montana Beauty

Traveling from the Madison

To the Gallatin Valley

The scenery so gorgeous

I have to pinch myself

To make sure it’s real.
Snow on May the 10th?

After welcoming the spring

Makes me question reality.

But hearing the robins sing,

I know it’s real!

Inside Lookin’ Out

Inside Lookin' Out

Today’s a good day
To be inside lookin’ out.
The wind’s a-howlin’
And the snow’s a-blowin’
But inside lookin’ out,
All’s well with the world!

It’s a good day to be
Thankin’ the Good Lord
For all the many blessin’s.
For a fire in the the fireplace,
A radiantly heated floor,
A pup on the hearth,
Food in the crockpot,
Friends close by,
A lovin’ spouse
who shovels the driveway
If I need to get out.

But, I don’t need
To go nowhere!
Nowhere but here –
Inside lookin’ out!

Late Afternoon Shadows

Late afternoon shadows –
sun sparkling on snow –
everything is beautiful –
no matter where you go!
