Judging

Quick to make judgments?
Try stepping outside yourself
And be the other.

Chico and Bob sit at the table
Chico paints as well as he’s able
Amazing indeed, with arms so small,
That he can create such art at all
But Chico doesn’t let his different condition
Thwart his creativity or hinder ambition
He can do what he sets his mind to do
Such an inspiration to me and you!
Fires

California is on fire.
Montana is burning now.
Firefighters are trying
To save this land somehow.
Friends are on alert –
Their belongings packed to go –
To move if necessary.
Move where? Some just don’t know.
We’re here to lend a hand,
But our resources are so slim.
We need the help of rain.
We must simply rely on Him.
No man can can tame the flames
That burn without regard
For whose life is damaged –
Who has lost their home and yard.
No man can stop the spreading
Without help from God above.
But here, at home in comfort,
I can offer hope and love.
I can pray for the firefighters.
I can offer food and shelter,
But I can’t stop the flames,
Nor tame the heat – the swelter!
Lord of Life and All Creation,
Please send us relief in rain.
Take away death and destruction,
And make us beautiful again.
Amen?

Bear stares
Bear worries
Bear cares
But never hurries
One eye ocean
The other browns
Bear invites emotion
But never ever frowns.
Bear loves the sunshine
Invites you in to dream
Bear looks mighty fine,
And not an ounce of him is mean!

Invites you to enjoy
Whimsical Bear in your home.

Well of Gratitude
Stop by the Well of Gratitude.
Drink deeply of its flow.
Think of all your many blessings.
Let your thankfulness show.
Daily count your friendships
Among your many gifts.
Don’t forget to appreciate
And thank those who so uplift.
Know that you are fortunate
To live the life you do.
So drink deeply from the Well
That’s flowing freely for you.

Sigh!
Soon enough the sun will dawn
And I’ll greet the early morn
With a shiver and a yawn
Wondering why when I was born
I could sleep like a baby, but not
Now.

This morning was almost a disaster. My husband was going on our ATV with a friend and two float tubes to do some fishing on No Name Lake. I forgot that I told him I’d make a sandwich for his lunch. It was time for me to go to my TOPS meeting. (For those of you unfamiliar with the acronym, it stands for “Take Off Weight Sensibly.”) Anyway, a promise is a promise. I carved out the time to make him an egg salad sandwich. Bless his heart, he’d already boiled the eggs for it.
Now it’s past time for TOPS and I suddenly remembered this is the day of our Installation of Officers meeting. We’re having breakfast in the Park. It’s a once a year extravaganza. I had promised to bring the coffee. Oh no! Guess what, there wasn’t a coffee bean or can of ground coffee to be found anywhere in the house. What to do? A promise is a promise!
The grocery store is 5 to 10 minutes away. By the time I’d go there and back with a can of Folgers, and brew it, the breakfast in the Park would be nearly over. Think creatively!!
Yes, we have a Keurig coffee maker. One cup at a time. Six pods of Vanilla Biscotti by Green Mountain and six pods of Paul Newman’s French Roast. Ah yes, put it in the coffee pot and away to the Park with cups, creamer, and Sweet n Low. Just in time for the breakfast set up!
A promise is a promise. Whatever it takes, even if you’re as screwy and forgetful as I am, keep your promises!
Oh, and you might check your calendar occasionally, too. That might help!

“Go ahead and be angry” but
“Don’t stay angry.”
Did you know the Bible
Actually says it’s okay to get mad?
There is a place for righteous anger, but
“Do not let the sun go down on your anger.”
Ephesians 4:25-26 permits and warns.
Choose wisely when and what to be angry about.
Then, transform that anger into
Energy and passion to seek correction,
To spread love and to find solutions.
Build others up as you use indignation
To fuel corrective action.
Live a life of love.
Go ahead, let your light shine Truth.
Don’t let anger linger and corrupt you!
