What Do You See?

What Do You See?

Photo by Josiel Miranda on Pexels.com

When you open your eyes
To look at this world
What kinds of sights
To your eyes are unfurled?

Do you see through glasses
That are sparkling and bright
Or is your vision clouded
By the absence of light?

Pray to have eyes
That can see the best
In the sights around you
Let go of the rest

Pray that your heart
Can forgive the worst
Of the behavior
Of those who thirst

They thirst for a mind
That forgives all the bad
And remembers the things
That make us feel glad

They thirst for a soul
That has peace, faith, and joy
It seems that they focus
On the things that annoy

But that’s not our life
We each have a choice
We can focus on things
That make us rejoice

I see your new posts
I see your concerns
I see into your heart
I know that it yearns

I pray that your worries
Your doubts and your fears
Can be seen through glasses
That wipe away tears

Wouldn’t it be nice if
All glasses had a set
Of windshield wipers?
They’d be bestsellers, I bet!

See ya tomorrow

VISION

Do you see it?

What should I see?

Today’s Word is VISION –

Today’s letter is “V.”

When I open my eyes

To the world at my feet

I see what I look for.

Is it bitter or sweet?

Do I tune in to news

That is divisive and rude?

Do I listen to folks

Who are angry and crude?

.

Or do I focus my mind

On the things from above –

The goodness and compassion,

The things that I love?

If I want to be happy

And spread joy – cuz I’m blessed –

I must focus on kindness,

And pray for the rest.
.

Pray for the people

And the earth and the places

Where peace is a scarcity.

You see fear in their faces.

Pray for the hungry;

Set your sights on the ways

You can bring some solutions;

And give God all the praise.

Use your personal vision

To flood your space with Light.

Practice seeing the invisible –

And renew what is right.

Make the spot where you live

Shine a beacon of hope.

Share your positivity

To those sliding down the slope

Of negativity and sorrow.

Lend your Jesus glasses out!

Help them see what you see

Through eyes of faith. Never doubt

That what you seek, you will find,

And where your heart and your mind

Bring God’s light into darkness,

You’ll bring sight to the blind.

Meadow is Empty

Today, in our haiku journey along the Pan American highway, we have an image to inspire us, which was taken in Yellowstone National Park and it is entitled ‘Meadow’. Our task is to create haiku, tanka or other Japanese poetry forms inspired by this image with the theme of love.

My response to:

Carpe Diem #1561 Yellowstone National Park … meadow.

Even in my frustration, seeing my granddaughter doesn’t always insist that my great-grandson wear the glasses designed to correct his lazy eye problem, I must check my own vision. Am I so nearsighted that I fail to see her unconditional love? Am I so blind that I can’t recognize the fact that she’s doing her best? Am I so oblivious that I can’t observe her own struggles? Am I too judgmental to tilt the scales toward compassion? Lord, I hope not! What needs need to color my observations? What “natural decisions” need to be modified by unconditional love?

Maybe all of them. You think?

Sit down and play with those thoughts for awhile.
