Leaning

In today’s culture
The message is to stand up –
Stand on your own feet.

This year’s word is STRENGTH.
My intent was to be strong;
Share vigor with you.

God has other views.
He keeps telling me to lean –
Giving me reasons –

Reasons to reach out
To Him for the strength I need.
Another today:

Surgery needed!

The orthopedist
Said my pinky’s not in place –
Needs a couple pins.

“Count on me,” he said.
“I will help you regain strength –
Full use of your hand.”

It’s scheduled Friday –
Surgery on my pinky.
Leaning on the doc.

God gives us doctors
When we cannot heal ourselves.
He says, “Lean on them.”

God gives us neighbors
When we need acts of kindness.
He says, “Bee grateful!”

Our Savior saves us
When we cannot save ourselves.
He says, “Lean on Me!”

I may have to learn
To accept strength from others –
Can’t be strong alone!

Single-handedly,
I feel slightly “hand”icapped.
God says, “Lean on me!”

Have you ever felt
Too weak to accomplish all
You have on your plate?

Who did you lean on?

Sometimes when we ask
God for the strength that we need,
He sends us earth angels.

My neighbor, a retired nurse who lives in CA part of the year, just texted. She asked about my hand. When I told her about the upcoming surgery, she wrote, “We will be there to help and if you have any questions, we know stuff :o)”

See … earth angel on her way! And her husband is a brilliant physiologist. He’s part of the “we” she’s talking about! Yup, they “know stuff.” Hah! It will be comforting and helpful to have them back in the “hood.” Just in time! God is good … all the time!

When Our Daily Bread posted on this subject, it wrote:

“We may not be able to touch Jesus physically,
but we can entrust the weightiest circumstances of our lives to Him.
He said, ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.’ (Matt. 11:28).

How blessed we are to have a Savior
whom we can trust to be faithful
through every circumstance of our lives!

Are you ‘leaning’ on Him today?”

I am leaning on Jesus,
and
I am Leaning on Bob, too!
He’s an earth angel God sent to me.

  1. Receive strength in Jesus’ Amen ma’am

  2. So sorry to hear you need more surgery on your finger, but glad to hear you have angels surrounding you to lean on and lift you up. A great post full of hope and love! Praying all will go well with your surgery.

  3. Oh no Jan, not glad to hear about surgery but glad the repair can be done. Was so hopeful surgery was not necessary. It’s in God’s hands and I’m confident all will be we.

    So love you dear one!

    • Thank you, Fran. Scheduled for 1: tomorrow (Friday) but just learned Rocky Mtn. Surgical Center may be “out of network” for my insurance. Oh my!

  5. I pray the surgery goes well, Ma! Hang in there! And God bless your Earth angels for helping you in your time of need!

  6. We will be thinking of you, Jan XX

  7. Jan, you are fortunate to be able to lean on the skills of this doctor. God continues to share His goodness. Keeping you in prayer.

  8. So sorry to hear you have to have surgery on your pinky, Jan. Praying God holds you near through it all. 🙏🏼

    • Thank you, Renee. It’s scheduled for 1:00 pm tomorrow … and the weather channel just predicted a winter storm warning -snow tomorrow. Darn!

  9. Isn’t it beautiful that come what may, He is always readily available for us to lean on? My well wishes with your surgery Jan, pray everything goes well.

    • Thank you for your prayers. Winter storm warning just indicated we may be driving to Bozeman (a one hour drive) in the snow. Darn! Good news though is that surgery is not til 1:00 pm – so we hope the snow plows do their job in the morning!

  10. I recently had surgery on my right hand – most help came from my ex-wife. Sometimes those we have pushed away are the ones who are closest.

Hello my sweet friend, Keeping you in my prayers for a successful surgery on Friday and a speedy recovery 🙏 Hugs

    • Thank you so much! I really appreciate your prayers. Surgery went well. Now just exercising pain management – keeping it elevated, and icing it 20 min. of every hour.
