Embrace Thoughtfulness

Embrace Thoughtfulness

It’s Thoughtful Thursday
A day to step back – reflect
What does today hold?

I won’t jump right in
I’ll stand at the water’s edge
Dip my toe in it

Think about the day
Ponder possibilities
Hear my soul speaking

Embrace Thoughtfulness
Listen to thoughts as water
Falls with purity

Pile rocks as you pray
Putting important things first
Each rock is a task

Choose them carefully
Tasks are opportunities
Order thoughtfully

Let your thoughts reflect
Then allow them to emerge
As a daily plan

Pause, pray and listen
Plan, and then jump in with faith
Embrace Thoughtfulness.

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable,
whatever is right,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is of good repute,
if there is any excellence
and if anything worthy of praise,
dwell on these things.

Have a calm, thoughtful, and a purposeful Thursday.

See ya tomorrow.

  1. So beautiful Jan! The video with water sounds was a nice touch!

    • Thank you, Deanna. I enjoyed playing the water sound as I composed and reviewed the post. I’m glad you enjoyed it, too. God bless you! <3

  2. Love this.

  3. Jan, I find strength in the words, “Pile rocks as you pray.” It’s bold and unique in its message.

    • Thak you, {{{Richard}}} – – – I am so glad the imagery of rocks representing daily tasks piled in priority order spoke to you. Have a Fabulous Friday! <3

  4. I love that sound of the bubbling water, Jan. It reminds me of a cottage my parents had when they lived in the Highlands of Scotland. A river ran past it. It was idyllic with the river and nearby forestry and a ten-minute walk to the loch.
I’m playing the youtube film now and Edmund, our male cockatiel, is chirping away peacefully. Sadly, a couple of weeks ago his partner, Crystal, died so he’s been getting lots of extra attention and he enjoys listening to calming music/sounds. 😀
It’s Friday now (I always seem to be a day behind!), so Happy Friday! xx

    • I can picture that idyllic setting, {{{Lesley}}} – and am glad the soothing water sounds brought you back to that spot and made your cockatiel sing. Sorry for your loss. Will you get him a new companion? Thank you for visiting, listening, and taking time to respond. I appreciate you! Have a Fabulous Friday <3

      • Hi Jan. Regarding Edmund, it was a tricky situation – he’s getting quite old now (in birdy years), so if we got him another partner, it would outlive him and, quite probably, us too as cockatiels can live to well into their twenties when domesticated. So we really didn’t want the possibility of passing down a cockatiel to our children in their inheritance, lol.

So, when poor Crystal died, we left her little body in the cage with him for that whole day, until dusk, so he could understand what had happened, instead of just whisking her away. It was sad to see him preen her feathers every so often. However, as time went on, he didn’t approach her so often and, when he settled on his ‘night-time perch’ at dusk, I took her out. He’s had lots of extra attention from us and I’m glad (and relieved) to say that he’s adjusting to the bachelor life very well.

We buried Crystal in a very quiet clearing in the woods that the dogs and I visit quite often.

Sending lots of love, Jan, and have a most lovely Sunday! xx

      • What a beautiful, thoughtful way to handle Edmund’s loss. Thank you for sharing your story. I am touched! <3

      • Thank you, Jan. We’re just so relieved he’s doing well. xx

  5. Thoughtfulness is such a gift

  6. Thoughtfulness leads to deliberate and purposeful actions.
    Love the verse also.
Thank you Jan for the reminder.
    Do have a fruitful Friday!

    • Fruitful Friday… I like that! I hope it will be for you, too (((Derrick))). I have a meeting of my Presbyterian Women friends today. We’ll socially distance and wear masks, but we will be together for the first time as a PW since last November. Our winter break (Dec. through Feb.) was a good time to wait out the pandemic. By now most of us are fully vaccinated. <3

  7. Thank you for allowing me to dip my toe back into your wisdom and reflections Jan.. Missed your beautiful thoughts my friend.. Good to be back in my blog again..
Sending HUGE hugs and Gratitude for being LOVE.. <3
