Your Kindness

No Action wasted

I am feeling so blessed
on this July 24th.
So many friends have reached out
and so much of my family was there early
to celebrate this milestone 80th birthday.

No act of kindness is ever wasted…
It’s true!
And this heart of mine overflows
with gratitude for all the good wishes.

God has blessed me with
a wonderful husband for 57 1/2 years.
God has blessed me with friends
who are thoughtful, loyal, and kind.
He has blessed me with health
to enjoy all these eight decades.
No act of God’s kindness goes unnoticed!

Thank you for visiting JanBeek today,
dear WordPress blogging friends.
Your kindness is appreciated.
I am ready to soak in the sunshine
of this joyful day… with gratitude.

God bless you!

Happy 80th Celebration

G = Gratitude

“The simple practice of gratitude can change our lives. Sages throughout the centuries have noted: As we count our blessings, they multiply.”

A quote from Unity.com

Gratitude is my word for Day #7 in my series of “What Makes Me Happy.”

Yes, gratitude makes me happy – but it’s not so much the thank yous from others as much as it is my own Attitude of Gratitude.

“Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.” I don’t know who first said that, but I agree. And I would add, it is all about appreciating what you have and acknowledging those gifts. Life is a gift. Thank God today for green grass, gruyere, grace and all those “G” words that make you happy.

Mine include grandkids, Guideposts devotionals, and Goff (that’s Bob Goff who wrote Love Does and founded that fantastic organization, Pure Love Does, that reaches out to help so many. Do you know him? Get his book, if you haven’t already!). Google him! (Oh, that’s another G word for which I am grateful) And guess what? As I was writing this post, i received an e-mail from Bob Goff! His new book, Love Does for Kids, was just released. TODAY! How timely, huh?

Thank you, blogging friends. I am grateful for you, too!

What are you grateful for today?

Well of Gratitude

Stop by the Well of Gratitude.
Drink deeply of its flow.
Think of all your many blessings.
Let your thankfulness show.

Daily count your friendships
Among your many gifts.
Don’t forget to appreciate
And thank those who so uplift.

Know that you are fortunate
To live the life you do.
So drink deeply from the Well
That’s flowing freely for you.

Inside Lookin’ Out

Inside Lookin' Out

Today’s a good day
To be inside lookin’ out.
The wind’s a-howlin’
And the snow’s a-blowin’
But inside lookin’ out,
All’s well with the world!

It’s a good day to be
Thankin’ the Good Lord
For all the many blessin’s.
For a fire in the the fireplace,
A radiantly heated floor,
A pup on the hearth,
Food in the crockpot,
Friends close by,
A lovin’ spouse
who shovels the driveway
If I need to get out.

But, I don’t need
To go nowhere!
Nowhere but here –
Inside lookin’ out!

Make Me an Offering

It is Stewardship Sunday.
What does that mean to you?
If you are a member of a church, you might think it is a time
when the church leaders seek to “Fleece the Flock.”
Our sermon today was titled, “The Offering.”
As is my habit, I took notes as I listened.
Here are my internal reflections as I heard the message:

The Offering

What do I have that God needs?
He doesn’t need my money.
What do bees have that God needs?
You think He needs their honey?

What do I have that I alone produce?
My offering to God is FROM me.
What do I have that is unique to me?
It’s a gift from me that’s FREE.

What can I give to God who has it all?
He doesn’t need my $$ bills.
My offering is not FOR God;
It’s given in gratitude TO God
For a life of chills and thrills.

What do I have that God wants?
He wants my love and trust.
What do I have that’s free from God to me?
His love, my faith, and TIME. Give it to God? I must!

What does God need with my money, I wonder.
It is not for God, you see.
What does my giving mean? Is it plunder?
No, it’s a THANK YOU to God from me.

My checkbook is my stationery.
It’s how I give thanks for breath.
I’ll write my thanks, my gratitude to God,
With JOY and WISDOM until death.

What do I have that God wants?
More than anything, it is my faithful free TIME.
I can waste my TIME or spend it
In service to God. The choice is mine.

Lord God, take me
– and my time –
I am yours.

Make me an offering.

Amen?
Amen!
