Lessons Learned

Daily writing prompt
Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

I am not indispensable.
I used to think I was…
If I wasn’t there,
the school would have

shut down!!

Hah! Not true…
The custodian and the secretary
Are indispensable …
Not the principal!

So unlock the misconception!
Set yourself free!
You, too, my friend
Are not indispensable!

What lesson do you wish you had learned earlier?

Lighten up!
Live, love, laugh…
Peace to you!

Hug lots,
JanBeek

  1. I wish I had learned earlier that my gut instinct is worth listening to, especially when it prompts me to reach out to someone. I’m getting better at hearing, trusting, and acting on it!

  2. That I am dispensable

  3. For most people, this life lesson is the same. Indispensibility is a reflection of our belief in importance of life. I have found, almost too late, that my pursuits have mostly been a waste of time. My relationship with God and my best friend, Alice, should have always been my priority. While work is important, it’s not eternal.

  4. One of my best lessons was in learning to trust in others. None of us are designed to carry life’s load all by ourselves.
