Listening to God
Is a daily endeavor
It takes intention
His Words are clever
God speaks through Jesus
Jesus, His Holy Son
And He speaks through the Spirit
The Holy Spirit, that’s the One!
Listening to God
Takes a willing heart
It takes a willing spirit
Here’s the way to start:
- Bee still
- Bee open
- Bee teachable
- Bee attentive
- Bee humble
- Bee submissive
- Bee expectant
- Bee responsive
- Bee-ware… and aware!
“The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue,
to know the word that sustains the weary.
He wakens me morning by morning,
wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.”
Does the Lord “waken your ear” each morning to listen? Every morning my friend, Lisa, who lives across the continent from me – over on the east coast – sends me a picture of where she is and assures me that she has me in prayers. Her pictures show me a scene so different from my own.
Each One Has Their Own Way
In our different environments, each of us is listening and praying. Each of us in our own way. We are open to God’s word – and open to whatever message He has for our day. We share special prayers for one another. It is a beautiful way to start each day.
Do you have a special friend who helps you to Bee more open, teachable, and attentive?
Do you have a system for Beeing more expectant and responsive?
If so, I’d love to have you share with me ways you are open to hearing God speak to you each day.
Through His Word and through music, God speaks to me most clearly. How about you? Which of those ten “Bees” are most helpful to you when you want to tune in to God’s voice?
Have a Fabulous Friday, my friends.
See ya later.

I think humble would be my bee – no pun intended. Special people who still help are all deceased – one is my late brother Chris.
I ask God for help living a life of humility with an attitude of gratitude every morning. So important!
Bee still, otherwise I can’t bee anything else!
So true, Fran. I hope you had a chance to “Bee still” today. We missed you at PW – and would love to have had you join us. Maybe next time?
Good morning dear Jan, what a refreshment I found here this moment. Your friend’s photo, your list of Bee’s. You asked if we had a friend who helps us be more teachable? Accountability is a beautiful gift from God. I have that with a few. As a speaker and teacher, I let folks know I am not here just to tell them what they want to hear 🙂 Have a beauty-full day in Him. Love in Christ, Julie
Thank you so much, Julie. My next post, the one I just launched from my sanctuary is all about great teachers. I can tell you are one ❤️👍🏽
Awww what timing! Only God can do such things dear Jan. I will be honest and let you know I cannot keep up with reading each and every post of those I follow. I ask for your patience. I write 1-2 x week on mine. When I am here writing, I read 🙂 Blessings, Julie
I understand. I can’t keep up with reading all I follow either. I post daily … and have about 900 followers. But if I get 20 comments on a blog I’m ecstatic! It’s not about numbers! I write and post with the faces of a few in mind. The teacher one definitely had your face on it!!
Thank you so much for grace. As I said in my email to you, I welcome connection not just likes.
Always in my heart and prayers with love and gratitude XOXO
You make me smile 😊Thank you, Lisa. ❤️🙏🏽
Emphasis on bee still
Listening to Him means active listening and humble in His presence.
Nothing is heard or comprehended if we don’t maintain an atmosphere of stillness.
Yes, yes! Psalm 46:10 ❤️🙏🏽
When I am still, open, and attentive . . . I am ready to experience God’s teachable moments. But, as I am writing this, God doesn’t always wait for me to be still and ready. He has the ability to rock my world when I need a wake-up call.
Oh yes! I think He’s rockin’ the whole world right now!!
