The ability to hear is so precious!

Hearing impairment
Shuts off life’s best nuances
Making prisoners

Open my ears
That I may hear
Voices of those
I hold dear

It’s like:
Living in a box
Inability to hear
Keeps you out of touch

So, slow down your speech
Speak a little louder, please
Bob wants to hear you!

It’s so frustrating
When he catches only half
Of conversations
Someone should invent
Hearing aids that really work
They’d make a billion
How can I hear you
Knock three times on the ceiling
Or twice on the pipes
If my ears aren’t working?
What fun that old song is!
I just had to include it here…
Listen if you can!
Love,
JanBeek

Love the song selection!!!
Thank you for taking time to listen. I love that song, too. Takes me back many years. But, who’s counting?
It is a nuisance at times Jan, as my own hearing isn’t what it once was, especially on the TV when the volume is on high and its still a mumble.. But it comes in useful sometimes… 😉 lol..
Sending love my friend xx
Yes, my dear, I know about “selective hearing,” but that’s not the biggest issue here, is it?
No, not hearing is..
So very poignant, Jan. I would love to learn that Bob has found the right aid
He has two sets. One is an Oticon like mine. Mine work perfectly. His doesn’t. He has a second pair from CostCo. They work some days and not others. Quite frustrating!
I’m sure
Jan, I have read few more moving poems about a father than yours. It fills with a river of the most blessed treasure . . . love. Thank you sharing this tribute to your father.
Thank you so much! What a kind comment. 🥰
This was very enlightening and a great reminder to cherish our senses! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for reading and responding. Yes, 👏🏽 hang on to all your senses – and use them intelligently!
You’re welcome! Amen! I always try to remember to thank God that all my senses are intact!
Very nicely done, Jan. Listening seems to be hard to do for many. James tells us: We should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry! Great advice for all of us.
Yes, excellent advice!
You did a great job on the acrostic!
Thank you, Dwight.
