Does the Bible teach us that God has numbered our days?
What does the Bible say about numbered days?
Is that what you conclude?
- “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending,” saith the Lord, “which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” ( Revelation 1:8)
On the Bible app, it then tells us, “In conclusion, the fact that God has numbered our days should serve as a reminder of His provision and care for us.”
Does that scripture
say God numbers our days?
Does God really know
on the day that we are born
how many days we will live ?
Psalm 90:12
This scripture seems to tell us that WE need to number our days! And we need to treasure each one and live in wisdom. Making wise decisions!! What does that say about FATE?
So teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom. Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.
Another translation of Psalm 90:12
- “Since his days are determined, and the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his limits that he cannot pass…”
This one seems to mean that the number of our days are already determined.
If you believe in Destiny,
then it seems to me
you would think you have no control
over what happens in your life.
I can’t go with that theory.
I do believe God gave us free will.
Maybe that means we can deny our destiny.

Thank you for a very thought provoking response. In response to your question, I do believe that our days on this earth are predetermined. I base this on how people who die young tend to cram a lot of living in their “short” lives as if they knew from birth that they were not going to be here for long. I also believe that in our allotted time, we have free will to live as we choose. I have learnt in the past few years to hand that will over to God and let him steer me in the directions He wants me to go to bring glory to Him. I still have some questions but that is where I am at now.

Blessings Jan for offering this discussion. During my teaching career, I learned to trust the guiding hand of the Lord in my future destinations. Sometimes it feels like an invisible hand, and other times right in my face visible. In my younger days, many wise elders told me to appreciate every precious day, and they have been so right.
