Basic Skill

What’s a skill you consider basic, that most people don’t actually know how to do?

Listen

Plugged in listening is easier, but…
… with family gathered ? Or
In church? Or…

… in a crowd? Or

… even when it’s just two of you.

Do we really know how to listen? Or are we just thinking about what we’re gonna say next?

Listening is a basic skill that takes a lifetime to learn.

And some of us never learn…

Are you a good listener?

  1. Now listen here, “listen very carefully shall say only once” (from allow’ allow’)
Not easy to reach anyone how to listen, especially if the don’t want to listen in the first place. Listening is as important as reading. “Sorry’ I wasn’t listening, what did you say again????”

  2. Listen more, say little!

Communication, whether verbally or in written form. We all tend to take short cuts. Punctuation, spelling, grammer, and syntax. Effective communication requires continual practice.

  4. You are right, Jan. Few people know how to really listen!

  5. I consider you to be a very good listener, Ma. I know you’re always there for me if I need to vent. xoxoxox

  6. It’s taken awhile to learn. God has shown me that it is more helpful to others if I listen to them rather than immediately offer advice.
