Middle Name Expedition

I found this blog to be so fascinating and so well written that I just have to share it with you. Tell me, are you as enchanted as I am with the linguistic artistry of this post?

I just discovered this young man today.
A great discovery!

  1. Yes. A good post. My Mum’s family had no middle names; my Dad’s family names were given in the order his parent thought sounded best, but usually the middle ones were the ones used – thus Douglas Michael Knight was called Michael. My son Michael John was named after his two grandparents.

    • My dad had no middle name either. I guess his family thought Salvadore DeAngeles was a long enough handle to remember!

  2. This is so good – “Those peculiar fillers nestled between our given and family names, carrying the weight of history, mystery, and sometimes, a dash of whimsy.”

  3. Hi Jan,
    Great post – great share!
    Blessings!

  4. Jan, thank you for sharing this post. Middle names is another example of countless journeys we can make in our daily adventures. One of my brothers prefers to go by his middle name, but his siblings still use his given first name.
