Advice

What advice would you give to your teenage self?

Not just my teenage self, but myself always:

Come and find the quiet center… be at peace and simply be!

  1. As a teen, I received great advice that I pass along to young people every day. We were told that there were four things that would get you kicked off the team. Smoking, drinking, drugs and women. What that did was the establishment of boundaries. These were the rules which govern acceptable behavior. The rules provided a medium for respect of team, coach and self. If you were late for any reason, you ran a lap for every minute you were late, to be run after practice. Courtesy of others, mutual support, recognition of efforts of your team members for reaching common goals. The three D’s, another Hallmark: discipline, dedication and desire. Without those, you’re lost, aimlessly searching for nothing and finding that everywhere. Setting of goals, developing objectives to reach those goals, and the establishment of strategies to direct you towards meeting objectives in support of your goals. The great thing about being twelve and thirteen, was seeing the changes in yourself when you reach the age of eighteen.
This advice is what an adult can pass on to a teen. A teen is not prepared to give themselves this kind of guidance. The only advice I would be able to give myself is this. Reject bad advice and obey fully, good advice when you hear it from a responsible adult.

    • The three D’s… worth remembering! Rarely do adults encounter a teen as receptive to advice as you were! 👍🏽🥰

  2. Life is short, enjoy every day!

  3. Awww… wonderful Jan… and I see you are already spreading your love to your new four-legged friend … Who looks to be finding your centre of peace.. 🙂
Sending huge hugs also xx <3

  4. Beautiful song, Momma! I especially like that you sang it in your sanctuary with the wind whistling through the trees as a background accompaniment. I love you! 😘❤️

  5. Jan, this moved me to tears. I just love you and the life you believe and lead. May I share this with my family? Wonderful wisdom. I strive to do this, too, dear Jan. You’re such a blessing!
