Spreading love, joy, peace, faith & unity

Reblog #2 – Reflections

NanoPoblano2022 asked us to reblog an old post during this month of November. One a day. I’m going to try to do that.

I added this image to the 2012 post. Back then, I did not understand how to use WordPress to its greatest advantage with memes and images that enhanced the words. My purpose in blogging today remains the same a it was a decade ago: to encourage love, joy, peace, faith, and unity among my blogging friends and to inspire us all to live a happier, more purpose-filled life.

My 2012 post:

.

“My confession, admission, and plea to God today is this:

None of us lives to just self alone;
Each of us lives for the other.
Whatever we do, be it rosy or blue,
Reflects on our sister and brother.

None of us sits on the judgment seat.
We’re not assigned to decide
If someone’s dull or bright, wrong or right,
Sending them to a corner to hide.

None of us lives a faultless life,
Though we try our utmost to seek
The humble hill to fulfill Your will
In our deeds and the words we speak.

We stumble and fall and fail to be
Examples of the upright and strong.
Try as we may, we know that someday
We’ll have to account for each wrong.

We’ll each have to stand before Your judgment seat
And review how we’ve spent every minute.
So, Lord, help us give every day that we live
All the love and the grace You put in it.

Help us to generously welcome all
To be part of whatever we do.
None of us lives to ourselves alone;
We always reflect on You.

Amen?

Amen!”

Happy Reblogging, my friends.
See you tomorrow.

Love,
JanBeek

  1. Amen, indeed! This is WONDERFUL. You are a delightful poet. Since I love memorizing inspirational poetry but often have to wait for the right one to come along, I want to thank you for sharing this amazing poem with us all. Thanks so much Jan!

    • Thank you so much, Gina, for the kind words. How exciting that you might like “Reflections” enough to commit it to memory. That’s an enormous compliment!!

      • My favorite poetry for memorizing touch me first of all, has an inspiring story to tell, and preferably, rhymes. Your amazing poem here fits perfectly. My memorized poems are not yet recited for others publicly but are mostly for myself, and occasionally my dear husband.

  2. Jan, I just have to say this here: bless your kind and loving overflowing heart! I just saw your wonderful comment on ‘oldsunbird’s blog and she is a dear sweet soul isn’t she? I am absolutely delighted to see some evidence of what Awards are all about – helping us share our favorite blogs and introducing our friends to each other. Warm hugs for you dear one.

  3. Thanks for the hugs, Gina. Warm hugs back to you – and thanks for introducing me to that young-at-heart sunbird!

  4. Jan, I’m touched by your beautiful poem which is more than a poem It’s a lesson, a prayer, a meditation. Thank you so much for this stunning gift. It’s a keeper.
    Love & hugs, Mary

    • Mary, I don’t know why these old 2012 messages are popping back up on my screen. Must be because six years ago I didn’t have the smarts to see the comments and reply to them. A few more birthdays, and I’m becoming decidedly more intelligent!! Hah! 🤪 Never to late to learn!

  5. You beautiful SunBird, Mary, you warmed my soul with your comments. Bless you – and thank YOU for taking the time to respond. I’m so glad we met via our writing and sharing. I look forward to reading more of your stories on your blog site.

  6. What a beautiful message! Thank you for sharing it with the world, Jan!

    Russ

  7. Hi, Jan. I LOVE the name of your blog–and that isn’t meant to be a pun. What a great and simple idea.

Are you ok? I haven’t seen a post from you lately and I miss you!

    Russ

    • Thank you, Russ, for checking in on me. I am more than fine – just very busy. Today our son and his wife and our four GrandAngels (aged 16, 16 1/2, 18, and 20) are arriving from CA. Bob & I have been wrapped up in activities here at home to make ready for them. In our spare time, the weather has been so beautiful that we have been out on the golf course. Writing has taken a bit of a back seat. I’ll get back at it – especially with the inspiration and stories of the grandkids as subject matter!

    • My “real name” is Jan Beekman. Did you see that, Russ? I just shortened it for the blog title. You haven’t seen a posting lately because I have been busy with my grandchildren. They are with Bob & me for a week – and we have a week more with their parents joining them here. Precious moments with four growing, active teens!!

  8. in our everyday wandering I see more and more attempting
to just be.. themselves…..and live the judging to the Creator…
especially poets of late….I enjoy that wonderful calm energy and your poem
has it seeping peace and calm between each word and line….
Thank you for stopping by and pointing the direction for me to find you…
    Beautiful poem….easy flow of words…
    Thank you for sharing
    Take Care…

Your words are so colorful and beautiful Mrs. Bee. I know having you as one of my first teachers in life, you had such an amazing affect on me. I grew to love music, poetry and art and I give credit to you for all of those things…Thank you for helping to shape me into the person I have become today.

    • Thank you for the kind words of affirmation, Susan. It is such a delight to have your presence back in my life after all these years. Thank you for keeping in touch and for visiting my blog. I will try to be more regular about adding entries now that our company has left and I am back to having a little computer time each day. Bless You!!

  10. Thanks for sharing your life affirming poetry. It is lovely!

    • Thank you for taking the time to read some of my poetry, dear “ClimbEverest.” May your Christmas season find you climbing to new spiritual heights! I look forward to visiting your blog to see what you’re UP to.

  11. Jan! This is beautiful! You cut right to it. Yes, we reflect the divine…we sure do…in what we say, how we carry ourselves, the choices me make to listen to the call within us. Thank you, Jan. Love, Lisa

    • Bless you for taking time to respond and be so affirming, Lisa. “The call within” YOU warmed my heart. Thank you!

  12. This is beautiful! I love it!

  13. Just beautiful ♥ ♥ ♥

  14. AMEN!!!! Amen, sister! YES! and you know what too — total acceptance for all the “parts” and voices within us. Welcome them ALL. Generously welcoming all the parts of ourselves. No judgment. Total allowing and welcoming. I LOVE IT, Jan! You totally made my day!

    • Thank you, Lisa. You made MY day!

      • Jan, funny but after I posted this comment, I went back and looked at some of the other comments and I saw that I had already posted awhile back!!! How beautiful and how telling of the words you write that when I read it again awhile later, a inspiration was planted within me! THANK YOu!

      • Six years later, these comments popped up in my screen. I appreciate them even more now than I did then!! Thanks again. Let’s keep in touch.

  15. Popping in to say hello and thank you for your kind comments on my son’s story. Sending light your way…

  16. I love your poetry and you express it so well.

I sense I have the desire to write it too, it just doesn’t seem to make it’s way from my heart into words for others to see.

I’ll have to pray and work on that one!

    God Bless you.

    • I’ll pray for the poetry in you to find release. Love Does – Just Do It! Thank you for your affirmation.

      • Are you finding the words from your heart to the page? These comments popped back into my screen today. Don’t know why. Must be a “God thing!”

  17. What a great post, thanks for sharing.

    • Thanks for your comment, Emma. Sorry it took me so long to see it. Interesting that your site is BasilandBees. You may or may not know that my husband is a retired beekeeper. We spent 20+ years caring for those little darlings!

    • Thank you, Renee. It was published in Poetry.com Anthology of Poetry back a few years ago. It rings true to me, too. I’m glad you liked it. <3 Thank you for commenting. <3

  21. Reblogged this on janbeek and commented:

NanoPoblano2022 invited us to reblog a post from our past – a different post each day. Here is mine from May of 2012. It’s a poem I wrote way back when that was published in the American Anthology of Poetry that year. It is even more true to me and my thought processes today than it was in 2012!

  22. I love rereading the comments here from a decade ago – and then again in 2019. What a magnificent WordPress community we have out there!!

  23. You’re still fulfilling your purpose, Jan! You’re such an encouragement to all of us. God bless you! 💛🙏🏻

  24. Wise words

  26. I appreciate your poetic gift. Jan, thanks for sharing it along with everything else.
