Embrace Small Delights

What are the small delights that enchant you?
Keep you coming back for more?
What are the small delights that entice you
To return again to your favorite store?

I love wreaths and flowers;
I take delight in their display.
I delight in springtime when its warm
And I can walk in the sunshine and play.

I love Michaels, the craft store, that has
All the items for projects galore.
That’s the place that’s my go-to
For creative activities – and more.

Prayers, pictures, and greetings
From Elaina, my daughter #2
Bring morning smiles and giggles
“Let me share my soup with you!

Let me show you my sweet kitty,”
She declares as she pictures her cat.
We share the things that delight us
In our daily morning chat.

My friend, Lisa, in South Carolina
Finds beauty in sunrises and purrs.
I love the way she shares with me
The views and delights that are hers.

The small delight that grows
To enormous size and glee
Is the joy I find in friendship.
Friends are so dear to me.

Laina & DeDe

Laina and our daughter, DeAna
Have been friends since high school days
They find great delight in togetherness…
A relationship where love always stays.

Caroline’s photo of ducks in lake

Some small delights in nature
That we often take for granted
Are ducks on the lake with snowy borders
And evergreen trees God has planted.

“I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”
Isaiah 61:10

I delight in having great neighbors
Who bake beautiful cookies and share
The tasty treats from their kitchen.
I delight in those friends over there!

(Thanks, Robin & Whooter & Sue Welna!)

A delight I’ve been waiting for
Is the opening of this daffodil bloom.
Thank God for the coming of springtime
And the flowers I see from this room.

My husband will tell you that nothing
Delights him like a bowl of ice cream.
His favorite is mocha almond fudge –
That’s his idea of a dessert dream!

I take great delight in rainbows.
They keep God’s promise visible & true,
This one over the McAlllister Church
Is a small delight just for you!

Here’s my delightful sunset
reflected over the Madison Range.

Have a delightful Wednesday.
See ya tomorrow (God willing).

Thanks for visiting JanBeek today.
I delight in your comments.

Thank you for including me in your blog MomBee! I really enjoyed that soup after not eating for 2 days! And Mocha Almond Fudge is definitely the best ice cream! I was introduced to it by DadBee! Yesterday after another high-stress, fast paced day of work, I went outside to find 80° weather and blue skies. I sat on my porch and thanked God for it! I thank God for you and for my bestie DeDeBee! I don’t know what I would do without you both. That is also one of my favorite photos. I can’t wait to make another trip to Switzerland.

  4. One little thing that delights me is super-dark chocolate. I found some that is 92% cacao with no refined sugar. When it melts in my mouth, my taste buds explode. There are so many others: the smell of the air after a rain shower, the sound of a friend’s laugh, the sight of purple flowers, the feel of walking barefoot in wet sand…

    • Like you, dear {{{Grace}}} – I have so many things that delight me. I love the song with the words that say, “It’s not the pale moon that excites me, that thrills and delights me, oh no…. It’s just the nearness of you!” Do you know that song? Your sweet conversation brings me delight! Thanks for your sweet comment, Grace! Have a lovely Thursday and a marvelous May! Happy Springtime! <3

  5. Jan, I am embracing joy from seeing a rainbow over the McAllister church and the sunset reflecting over the looming Madison Range. This morning I embraced some delightful memories of my mother, who is 18 amazing years older than myself and still full of life.
